Public Service Announcement

I'm picturing a final product with a purple engine and some unfortunate contrasting colored wire loom.

No derby guy as going to pay anything close to the asking price.

Dave

Dave, that's well within derby price for a lot of those guys. Strip all the good trim, glass, bumpers and such off of it and let it get hit. The money just isn't there to put that car right.

I would never sell it fora derby. The car is in pretty good shape...just a poorly done paint job. I'm sure some rust in the trunk was painted over too. I would think 4k wasn't too bad if it came with the motor...but probably closer to 3k.

It'd take a hardcore, partisan fan of that car to get $3K out of it minus drivetrain.

Derby cars in the west coast are usually about $1k if they are complete. A rolling hulk would be a hard sell at $750. Must bring a lot more money in the Midwest.

They don't pay that money for cars up here, no way, a thousand tops for that shell. Stick an engine and transmission in it, slap a driveshaft in and go! If this is derby fodder, than more than half of the members should junk their cars! And if they pay that much in Ok, I'ma gonna get me some cars and a trailer and head on down! Terrible color for the paint, but it's not lost. Not yet.

I'm paying $1000 a year to store a pile of derby cars then ...

Derbies aren't a big thing here, but I do know guys that don't hesitate to go $2K-$3K for a slick, very little rust big car. That is not scare-them-away territory.

Seen this on the wecrash Facebook page the other day. Sad.....

The big '74-'78 fronts are hugely desirable. They'll bring $500 to $700 each for just the bumper and the reinfocement bar. Sad but true.
