Kinda got a lift...

After a long hot summer here in Georgia with much more work than I had envisioned, I "Kinda" have a driver....

After the lift survey in June, I have completed-
New- exhaust, steering gear (Lares), steering hoses, pitman arm, outer tie rod ends, front brake calipers, rear brake hardware, all brake hoses, transmission mount, radiator, radiator hoses, fuel tank, fuel sender, left spindle and bearings, all drive belts, alternator, starter.
The timing chain was inspected and found to be an aftermarket double chain version. I believe this and the cam were changed by whoever had the heads off. The valve cover gaskets were replaced- again! This time I used the Tennessee Real silicone gaskets. These work great!. I will be using these on my other cars! The water pump was found to be a newer Mopar service pump and reinstalled. Everything disassembled on the front of the engine was painted before reassembly. Power antenna cleaned and greased. The firewall was stripped down on both sides, with all cowl and AC box area rust repaired.
The AC was serviced with new evaporator, heater core, original compressor rebuilt, new hoses, conversion to R134. The condenser was tested, cleaned, painted, and reinstalled. The ATC was converted to manual AC. (I will post a detailed write-up on this topic).

I removed the window tint, scrubbed 10 years worth of grime off, and sent the ole girl for an appointment at the local auto shine.

Her dignity has been partially restored with the polish, and a proper set of Mopar steel wheels fitted with proper whitewalls and 76 NYer hubcaps.......

She has come a long way from this sad state-

With still a long way to go! I recently acquired a parts car that will give me most of what she needs to return to her 'as built' status- including her lost M51 Sunroof and W23 Road Wheels!. She is a work in progress, but fun to drive never the less....

Wow, what a wonderful amount of progress on a great car! I love seeing our old C bodies brought back to life!

If you keep the camera angle low enough, the roof issue is barely noticeable. :poke:

You have done right by this car. She looks much better already.

Yep- looks good standing from 20' (Below the waist). Driving it with all that loose canvas fluttering in the mirrors reminds me that I "Kinda" have a big project ahead of me..... LOL.

Wow! I’m impressed! I kind of like the faux convertible top as it reminds me of an imperial with the smaller rear window. What are your plans for the interior? What’s next? Definitely need many more pictures.

keep us posted.

WOW!!!! What an amazing transformation.. thx for saving her. I remember when you bought her. I was wondering what happened..

I’m really interested in the A/C - Heatercore rebuild.. as I have a 77 NYB that is like to do the same to..

If you’ve detailed that somewhere please direct me.

Thx

Very late to this thread. Amazing results so far. Nice to see another land yacht getting some much deserved love. Please keep us posted.
