Where was this Mopar Brochure/Ad Photo shot?

I think the name was actually Doug’s Body Shop, Matt.
I would meet Dad there for lunch probably in the 70s. Diners sat inside actual vehicles.

yep ..there was a place called Doug's Body Shop in Ferndale on Woodward into the early 1980's by my memory.

Closed/reopened/whatever happened and apparently became a gay bar under that same name .. obviously attracting a different clientele (aint judgin'/just sayin').

I have no idea what/where it is now is now. Always reminded me of that place in Pulp Fiction ''Jackrabbit Slim's".

The old Doug's I knew as an auto-themed restaurant was something like this though:

Three hints.

1. This midwest US city is on a large river
2. The river's name is also the state in which this city is located
3. Where this stretch 300 is parked, as they say in Roma and Torino, there is a "treasure of the sea" (Anglicized spelling) nearby

City, state, and where exactly is this car parked? A "Dude" with a gold star to the winner. Bon chance.

Thought you had to go on vacation?

three more hints and then answer posted tomorrow morning.

4. Lotsa barbeque restaurants in this city
5. three hour plane ride to either coast
6. Walter said to have gotten his rodent inspiration here

good luck if anybody is still at it.

#264 partially solved from a couple PM's I got.

Kansas City, Missouri, on the Missouri River, smack-dab in the middle of the country, famous for barbeque, and they say Walt Disney's first studio was here where he cared for a mouse, giving him inspiration for what became the Disney empire.

Anyway, the limo is parked in front of the "Trezo Mare" (Treasure of the Sea in butchered Anglo-Italian translation) https://www.trezomare.com/

See if we can leg out a few more from this tired old thread: Where was this photo shot?

Three hints as usual, and googling the photo directly is considered "cheating" :):

1. In a US state that touches four of the five Great Lakes
2. Building is 100 years old, but was renovated recently.
3. You could get gas here in the distant past, but now you might just "get gas" here

One tough baby and a 'Dude" for first correct answer for exact city and name of this the place in this photo. Any gearhead locals in this particular place .. maybe let game run for other folks to give it a go? If you're first correct answer, PM me and you'll still get a baby and a "dude"

Anyway, PM me if you want to validate your guesses. Answer posted in two days or less.

From my 2019 Durango brochure...

Dude, she’s outta yer league. Get back in your truck and head to Ferndale.

Harder one ... with one hint.

1. City west of the Rockies, in the USA.

What city, state, and approximately where is this Porshe parked?

If navigating a map isn't your cup of tea, or you're not a local who stood on this very spot, itll will be difficult to get this one.

I admit even I dont know exactly where this car is parked because Peg Man couldn't land in the only place that made sense .. just generally like the Denver game above.

So, I could be wrong. Bon Chance

We aint in Brooklyn any more.

I believe MrMoparCHP has this one nailed. His post is also a clue .. a very clever one at that.

Google's Mr. Peg Man cannot land on this spot, nor can this low angle photo, from a suitable terrain elevation, be captured from any online map tool I know of.

But to get the skyline landmark angles to line up, there seems to be only one place --- with a big a** parking lot -- you can get this view.

Anyway, answer posted tomorrow morning.

The interesting part is it isn't where we think it is, but yet nearby, I know will share that detail later.

ahh... that explains something then.

my daughter and her fiancée live in this city. I asked them to visit the expansive looking place I think this porsche is parked.

they said "yeah, but ..." it isn't exactly right. they admitted not walking around the place i sent them for exactly the view. plus my daughter wasn't much interested in roaming the area for me :D

so, if i will defer to your exact knowledge on it ... since city and state cannot be debated, but location was "fluid" as i said when i started this game.

thanks boss!:)

One last clue, it isn't a big a** parking lot, more like a helipad.

Alan

Uh, the one in E.P.?

Appears to have the right view elevation and angle on the downtown landmark buildings .. and its near where i sent the kids.

Easiest way to look at it is to "mind your gaps"

Anytime you have a series of high rises it is easy to line up one alignment and move in/out till the others work, Google Earth works best for this, I fly till I see the all the alignments work then I look for a landing spot, in this case it was actualy a helipad.

I instantly recognized Los Angeles City Hall, smaller building to the rear of the car, my fist assumption was Dodger Stadium before I looked into it and realized the alignments didn't work.
Pegman has a lot more freedom in Google Earth.
