My new ‘64 Imperial convertible

Got the tank back and a new sending unit from Murray.:)
Just need to give the outside of the tank and the bottom side of the trunk floor some attention before it goes back in.
I already blew out the fuel line with mineral spirits until it came out relatively clean. It’s one piece steel on this full frame barge.

Is this car a Unibody? This picture looks like the frame is not welded to the body.

Nice methodical progress, looking good Matt! All I go done yesterday was spend 4 hours cleaning up the mess I made from the paying customers work. :)

Coated with a rust reformer and then a coat of chassis black on the top side.

Good score on the front seats. They look very restorable. Did you ever find a back seat?
Not yet but I do know that I can modify a coupe seat to work so I’m not sweating it at the moment.
Once running the brakes are the next order of business and then the floor pan and door hinges.

You are so busy on the car, just to clarify are the front seats part of the big shipment from CA or is this totally separate?

They were the reason I reached out to the guy from California to begin with. We came to terms on the pair of buckets and then made the deal on the rest of the parts.
There are some gems in this load, several more parts than I thought I will be using on this car. Still going through it though.

Got under to prep the trunk floor to put the tank back in.
Here are a couple of before pics.

And after a few swipes with a wire brush. I couldn’t be happier about that!:)

New sending unit, original lock ring, an NOS grommet and it’s in and all hooked up. I also hit the few bare spots with some rattlecan undercoating.

While I was under there I noticed that one of the mufflers had a blowout, oops....
I also learned recently that all the verts had dual exhaust. I asked a buddy when I noticed all of the factory looking exhaust hangers on both sides.

Such an awesome and rare car. Are you going to clean it up and sell it or is this a keeper?

My goal is to make it complete, turn it into a driver and see how I feel about it. It’s growing on me quickly and the effort that I’m putting into it now I’m doing as if I were going to keep it.
