Guys
I'm looking at building a stroker motor with my 400 and would like to use parts from my 383/440's.
Can anyone give me any direction on a build guide?
I was told a 470 is the way to go for power and cost.
Thanks

Seems like one of the first versions used a 440 crank with the mains machined to 383/400 size? BUT we've progressed FAR from that point by now. Result was something like 452cid? Somewhat doubt you can "shoe string" one of these.

Just some thoughts,

470/474 is a 400 with a offset ground, 440 crank with Chevy rod bearing sized crank pins. Not cheap. The do make a 3.91 crank that makes this displacement. You would be better off just making a 512 cid same $$ and more common/choices.

I have a 451 in my '68 Newport. Forged 440 crank, 400 rods, and KB251 pistons from Keith Black. Works very well.

No replacement for displacement and stroker kits are the same price regardless of stroke.

4.25 stroke is the easiest one to fit for 511 cubes with a 4.375 .035 oversize piston.
