They’re asking 50K and this is from the ad.

This car is absolutely a time capsule. It’s like going back in 1957 and buying it then. This car is all original absolutely a gorgeous vehicle.Must see to appreciate. power brakes, Power steering, Air conditioning from factory. This is a California car never been out of the state of California till a couple of months ago. Always garaged since New been in the family since new. they only made 2023 of them, because of recession in 1957. Tags are current. I really hate to see you go, but selling due to poor health. For more information call show contact info
. Must see to appreciate!

I think a lot more cars had dealer-added AC units then, and I don't think this is factory. The ONE '57 Dodge I have seen with factory AC had the "porthole periscope") vents that raised up from the dash, and this car doesn't seem to have them. It DOES seem to be a period AC system (Vornado, no less!), wonder what it takes to get one of THOSE to work again...…

Otherwise, it's pretty fantastic, and a once-in-a-lifetime-find if truly original. I DO though, see the (dreaded) "bellows" power brake unit in there, so that claim is good.

Is it me, or is the engine compartment no where near as nice as the rest of it?

The "Vornado" was a dealer installed A/C system. Believe it or not, the company is still around, but these days they make home air circulating products and some small appliances. The factory air used an RV compressor (predecessor to the RV2, but very similar) the system did indeed vent thru the top of the dash. I agree that for an asking price of $50k, the engine compartment is pretty tacky.

The bottom of the passenger side quarter looks a little suspicious, or is it just my phone?

Ok, thanks Dave. I think the rocker has been repaired too.

Photo looks like there could be some mud on the rocker just below the rear door. but hard to tell. Curious that there are no photos of the driver side on a $50k asking car.

he just bought it two months ago and is selling it now due to health reasons?
Not impossible but it always smells to me if someone bought something "very special" or "something they where hunting for ages" and then sell it a few weeks/months later

That is a nice car. For that kind of money it should be done up a little better under the hood but only if he knows what he’s doing. Better left alone than an engine house covered in medium gloss black spray paint.

What's the low end value on something like that? $45000 seems waaay out there, but not familiar with these

#3 proximate $8k, #4 $15-$18k. Yes for an unrestored car that price is more than a little "out there". Probably a flipper trying to make a quick buck, probably bought it from the previous seller someplace around the $16.5 asking.

I saw this car at shows in California over the years. Belonged to an older man who said he’d never sell it. It had been in the family since new.

When the car first came up for sale it was listed at $13k. I called and talked to I believe the daughter. Supposedly the owner is losing his vision so they decided to sell his cars.

Long story short... I was the first caller and they didn’t even think 13k was realistic. I had a deal arranged and then next thing I know they wanted 20k because they had a lot of interest. Then the price went to 30k then 50k then make offer.

The family got greedy basically and now it’s way overpriced. It’s a low end model and not perfect and not totally original. It has its flaws. They had the car moved to Texas where they lived and hope some sucker will pay up.
