Old bones popping. She doesn’t like the cold

27 degrees when I left work at 4:30. Forecast is a low of 15. At startup today, I heard a few pops from the rear when I got in. Few more backing up and a thud (pass front) when I turned backing out of parking space. Once I got moving it was ok and drove fine home.

I changed oil Sunday. Good thing, I think. I was getting a few second of clatter when starting with the 20W50. Switched to 10W30. Using Valvoline racing oil and Lucas zinc additive.

Thinking pops might have been brakes. We had light freezing rain this morning.

Leaf springs, control arms. Shocks etc. Things pop, crack and snap as they age, same for car parts....lol

I'm thinking similarly. Common for the rear leaves to pop/slide when they flex after sitting in damp frozen weather. Might hit the rubber bushings with some silicone spray or the "famous" RuGlide" rubber treatment liquid (from back when the cars were new).

The front strut bushings can be a source of the front end noises when first driven, too.

Just so you know, you might look things over when the weather warms a bit.

This morning at 16 degree temperature started right up. Some creaks but nothing major.

What, you're not used to 16 degrees? Trust me, even fairly new cars make funny noises when it gets so cold. Being your car fired right up this morning you are doing something right. I am old enough to remember the days before fuel injection and what the first real cold snap of the season would bring into the garage. Tune ups with the usual choke thermostats and choke pull offs. Check to see if all the carb linkage was good and vacuum lines not broken. How did we ever manage? Now I sound old.
