console modification for 4 speed

I see a little confusion in the replies to this thread.
My original request is regarding the plastic or fiberglass hump that attaches to the console. I have a auto trans console. My plan was to modify this console for 4 speed. The repop console humps seem to be fiberglass. B body units are plentifull. And it looks like they will work fine.

Now on to the metal trans hump. I have that part under control. I found a good used hump and paid up.
I doubt if I will be satisfied with just one 4 SPD C body. So i would like to buy a couple of spare humps from ponomamissel. In the meantime I want to investigate converting a B body trans hump just in case.

Thrashing cows. (I will mention you to my cows)
I am going to cut the trans tunnel and floorplan out of a junk 65 polara. Using this pan and my original hump I will be able to see exactly what is required to convert a B hump.
In a perfect world we will be able to buy c body humps shortly.

That's funny...Great minds think alike! I have a spare section of C-body floor pan that I plan on using in the exact same fashion one day.

Ther e is a couple or B humps. For different years. I saw pictures of them all and I think the 66 to 70 is the closest to c body. Yea there is a few obvious differences but there are enough similarities to show potential. If I cant do it I will admit defeat. I not scared to try.

I agree the 68-70 look very close and I think just a bit of cutting along the mounting edges, and maybe addition of a little metal here and there should have something that would work. I've wanted to try this since I picked up my first C-body almost 20 years ago, I have had my 4 speed parts for almost that long as well. Picked them up while leaving a car show/swap meet...$50 for the complete set-up!

Paul. If you are referring to the one I posted. No it is a original C body hump. I am thinking about ordering a B body hump for comparison.
How are things coming along with your humps?
Appears to be lots of interest.
Kevin

The console hump is the same from B-C Body, the metal floor hump is not.

Next question
Is the 66 B body console the same as a 66 C body console. They look the same to me. I mean the basic dimensions and mounting brackets.

i'm do to look at these new c bodies humps on wednesday afternoon . i hope it works . it took awhile to get the plug to cast up . without sinking on the flats . i'll shot pics . this is what we started with , a 66 cbody hump . also building stronger than stock z bars and frame mounted . hope to build a thread on this later on .

They sure look the same, I'll double check my parts book.

I would really appreciate it.
I have a fairly rough C body console
It would work but would be hard to look at.
I see Van's auto has a complete 4 speed B console for $1424.

I see they started giving them away. :wideyed:

Practically free.
Yea I know it is a expensive addiction.
If all a guy needed was a console it wouldn't be that bad.
I have a firm feel kit headed my way.
I need to do business with TTI.
I am on the waiting list with brewers for a trans.
I have a block and heads at a machine shop.
I likley should go thru the 8.75
As you can see I have a plan. Might not be a good plan. But its a plan
I will have 15 grand in a 8500 car that will be still be worth 8500.
So 1424 for a shiny console is small in the blurred big picture

yes , tons of funds with no return . can't say there is any money in my venture . happy four speed car guys is its own reword . i know i'm going to be banging them off . just needs a o/d to be better . maybe i'll look into a tall stock to use a gv from a 727 on it . same output shaft size . if there where enough of us a833 tranny guys wanting that it could break even on costs , even . lol . but i'm going to launch a new company with these parts '' RoadToysUnlimited'' RTU ! what do you think ? i have either items inline for its product line as well , racy stuff for the vintage car guys .
