Disc brake rearend from a 1975 imperial complete and in good condition. Still in car.
$350. Prefer not to ship. Located in Northern California

The complete rearend. 4.5 bolt pattern. Turns freely.
Rotors look good. 9.25 not 8.25. Unknown ratio.
Whatever comes with 75 imperial.?
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong,it's a direct bolt into earlier Cs

Parts for that setup are made of unobtanium. If the rotors and calipers are still serviceable, it's probably worth somewhere in that price ballpark to someone trying to keep one on the road but they would honestly be better served swapping a drum rear in place of the disc one.

As far as a donor for 4 wheel discs on a formal, it's a non starter.

Kevin

Calipers are 73 dart.

Shoes can still be relined.

This set up could be valuable parts for a Formal Imperial owner for sure...just need to be sure the rotors are in spec and can survive a clean up machining.

The 4 wheel disc Imperials are the best braking cars I've ever had...very well mannered.

F/R proportioning was good?

I would say "brilliant" front to back and side to side. Easily modulated and not grabby. If these were more easily maintained with available parts, I would not hesitate to swap to them for any Formal...they were that well designed.

On the panic stops I had, I had no wheel hop in the back (which was an issue with the Drum rear Fusey era cars...not sure if this was resolved for all Formals or just the 4 wheel discs.)

Significant nose dive (hell it's as big as cars ever got, so to be expected) but in control and no need to give steering input due to unequal braking.

There were still options for the rear gear and SureGrip, it would be in both yours and the potential buyer's best interest to figure that out. Turn the yoke and see if both sides turn the same direction, count the turns for a quick estimate of gearing (yoke vs flange)... interested parties will figure everything else out from there.

I know of one that was transplanted into a 71 Satellite without modification, so yes, there would be a lot of places it could be fit. Unfortunately, only nut jobs tend to go for these. Either Formal owners saving an Imperial, or folks too stubborn to find something more "bolt on" friendly from the aftermarket.

In any case, your price isn't out of line, but you really MUST get rotor measurements to justify the sale for someone who is knowledgeable. The ability to cut them clean is always in question with rusty rotors, and something I would never recommend if replacements were available. The real value is in the rotors here, but a SG rear or a deeper ratio might be a hot item for the right C Body owner. To my knowledge, the axles and housing are the same as drum cars. Calipers and pads are easily sourced, but everything else is unique. Caliper mounts, the park brake pieces and the dust shield/backing plate are tough finds for those who might need them.

FWIW, there is somebody who is selling or has sold a set of these brakes for twice your price, and his didn't have an rear end, just the brake pieces. Personally, I would steer folks to this if you had rotor measurements. If they were on this side of the country, I might have even come checked them out myself. There is also a set of take off rotors that has sat on EB for $600 forever... so nobody seems to be that desperate.

p.s. your inbox is full... FWIW, if you are selling in volume, you might consider the gold membership and its ginormous inbox storage.

Thanks for info. I have spun the wheels and it NOT s sure grip. The rotors just have some surface rust on them. They appear to have some meat on them. The rear end looks better in person than in pics.
I will locate a mic and get some specs and take more pics if there's interest?
I saw the post of the higher priced ones and that interesting reading! I try to price my stuff to sell.
I would consider selling parts from rearend at the same rate.
My inbox fills twice a day with bumper requests and parts car requests. I made the mistake of posting too much too soon. Now I'm trying to catch up on PMs. I have only posted about 35% of the C,imperial,FL parts that I have. I'm just trying to clear some space, raise a few bucks for my 61 projects. I will look into the membership program

Here are some of the sheet metal pics as requested.
These are from 2 different cars. Sorry for the bad pics. It just doesn't stop raining here. Will get more pics of interior floor

Here are a few pics of the 77 NY as requested.
The good it is ROCK solid. I can't find a bubble anywhere. It's loaded with sunroof,cruise,8track,PW,tilt/tele
Original paint. Arrow straight body. Uncracked blue dash. Headliner intact Have keys.

The carb and front grille section is missing.
Motor condition is unknown. The drivers door window has been half rolled for a few years.
I do not have a title. I saw this car on the back of a wrecker headed to a car crushing car. I knew the driver and convinced him to drop the car at my house and pickup another junk car in its place.
The title was already processed as destroyed by the wrecking yard.
