I was amazed at the response to a wanted request for a simple thing like a defroster tube. I was being a little anal about locating the correct part. Many members of the "brotherhood" responded with what they interpreted my needs to be, and I really appreciated the links to available products. Another member finally stepped up with the exact part I was seeking. The networking demonstrated is what a site like this is all about.
It's unfortunate there are some who don't understand that, and likely due to some personality disfunction, decide to attack another's intellect in a obvious attempt to demonstrate their own superiority.
Just an observation.

Most forums are that way. There are always a few that just get so stuck on themselves as to ruin the whole thing. While I really don't spend a lot of time here due to work and life, I think this place is mild compared to some I see. There are some really good people here. Really need to find time for my stalled c-body projects.

Try the Dodge truck forum. Any one.
Better yet try the RV forum.
Worst, try an electronics forum. They are savage. I think they create a newbie area just so they can berate 'em.

I wouldn't have been able to find parts, or expand my fleet without this site. I found FABO first, and the same can be said about it, I found all I needed and more, but FCBO has gotten most of my attention. The members here are a great bunch of people, and I consider the ones I've met in person as friends, I know I can say that about the Illinois bunch, I'm just the one who lives the furthest away!

Will, I'm glad you got your part, @swisherred is helping many of us, myself included!

Well said, and very true. It's what's kept me coming back since I've joined this forum.
The knowledge of our C bodies on these pages, and the many resources that are shared by members, whether it's a new or NOS part item, all the "how-to's"/ do's & don'ts, or sourcing a specific defroster tube for another member is what should make us all feel good about being here.
There's always going to be some crotchety guy in the room, even if there were only 3 people in the room. But that too is what makes this site entertaining as well. Even when a member has a sour comment, there are other moments when that same member contributes something positive.
Friendships? This will happen for anybody who wants it to. I've made some good friends since joining FCBO, and have had the benefit of working on these cars with a few of them. And for my buddy in Minnesota, if you put the shoe on the other foot, Us guys in Illinois probably feel we're too far away from You.
Our annual event has turned into a gathering of great cars, but the back story is...the people here are even better.

If you can make it to Sanford, it's about 3 hours to Carlisle from Lorton... and they do have indoor plumbing and lots of convenience stores along the way .
