I believe the 3 speed wiper was an option in 1972. Higher trim line Chryslers have them.

One thing is a different switch. Is the wiper motor different as well? But do cars like the Newport have wiring harnesses for both 2 and 3 speed switches? I think the 3-speed switch has another lug.

I have converted many of the two speed cars over to the three speed. You will need the correct wiper motor for your car, the linkage from the motor to the wiper pivots, and the new switch. When you have the system apart replace the bushings throughout the whole system.

The wiper motor is a different unit. The three speed unit has an extra wire on both the switch and the motor assembly, if I remember correctly, the wire for the three speed unit is present but unused on two speed applications.

The wire harnesses for the two, and three speed systems are the same.

There's a difference in the appearance of the motors as well. This is a 2 Speed motor

and this is a 3 Speed motor.

The two and three speed motors take different linkages? Anyone who sells refurbished motors and linkages?

The linkage from the motor to the wiper pivot is different, but the pivots and the connector arm for the pivots are the same.

But one question, if I may. Some 1970s cars had "hidden" wipers under the hood lid. These wipers had a "park" position to conceal them. Are these motors different, or is it in the linkages?

The reason is, I see many adds for rebuilt 3 speed motors for A, B and E cars, but I wasn't sure they would interchange with my 1972 Newport. I don't see any rebuilds advertised for C bodies, and did not know if they were different.

the other body styles have different shaped plugs that go into the bulkhead connector. i can't speak for the later motors, but the 3 spd motor on my 69 fury has a built in park mechanism.

Because the park mechanizm is internal on the 3 speed motor you must get the exact motor for your car.
If not the park position and the wiper sweep will be way off.

Chrysler used the same 3spd motor for all body styles (A B C E) to keep manufacturing costs down.
The trick they did is the plate on the motor is adjustable. The three notches at 9 oclock at the motor you can back off the flat head scews and index the plate to its respective body style.
I read that in a mopar magazine byt cannot remember which notch is c body. Of course i have the magazine stowed away in the man cave lol

Incorrect. The difference is in the gear and arm assembly behind the plate. That and the arm that connects the motor to the wiper linkage.

Ok. The 3 speed wiper motor housings minus the guts are interchangable. Yet the 2 speed and 3 speed wiper motors are toally different.

That is correct. That is why you have to get the correct motor for your year and make. Once you get the correct parts it is a plug and play deal.
