There was a lot of the weird and unusual in that golden era of racing setups. There was quad 4BBL setup that Mopar tried on the stage engine in '63 as an experiment that never made it into production. Did not work very well for obvious reasons.

Insane a lot of early hot rod multi carb intakes when I worked at the parts store. One shop guy we had brought all kinds of unique people and parts to the shop. I don't think those guys us could get the prices they were asking for a couple thirteen-fourteen years ago.
 
When I first saw the picture I thought there were 5 carbs for sale and then I saw they where attached to one manifold. Wow!
 
I see potential here. If some one would take time to figure out what size the four perimeter carbs need to be for a good driver, then size and time the 5th for max air flow, I think this set up could be a good street-strip kind of set up.
