I know, I know, I know.
They're rare. They're expensive. They're impossible to find.

I have to start my search somewhere and someday so might as well be now. I've picked up the paperwork for a second mortgage on my home and I'm prepared when they surface.

Looking for the following in either NOS or super-fantastic, primo USED:
3461012 Trim Ring, 4 each
3461041 Dome Assembly, 4 each
3461042 Cap, Dome, 4 each
BONUS WISH:
3580067 Multi Style Wheel, 16-slot, Road Wheels, 4 each

I’m replying just so you know the parts are out there. But you are going to have to look really, really, really hard and network to find them.

You obviously know that, I’m trying to give you hope.

Good luck...the parts are out there!

Thanks, I appreciate that! I have a "field" set to clean up and get started with while I embark upon this journey and I DO feel lucky I at least have the proper 3461042 dome caps!

By the way I do have the parts, in NOS and in original packing/boxes that you are looking for, including NOS Road Wheels in MoPar boxes, and 4, NOS Goodyear H/70-15 RWL Polyglas tires to put on them.

The parts are for a car I’m restoring. I found some of them with help from members on this site.

If a complete NOS set of Road Wheels is really what you are looking for, then you’ve found them.

I’ll take your $1M offer or something close to it!

Wow - that is awesome that you've pieced together such a magnificent set of wheels! It goes without saying, I have wheel envy! What car are these beauties going on?

Is that their known name "Romney" like I've heard the ones I'm looking for are called "hens teeth"?

These Romney caps; do you have a part number and do you know what years they were available?

Thanks!

This should be a reference to similar designed AMC parts of the day as found on the Javelin for example. Mitt Romney's father used to be a chairman for this corporation and probably delivered this "tiny Little car" he bragged about to have had to use as a student. :D

Yes, the AMC caps/domes, or Romney caps as an alternative joke moniker. Hemmings Classic Car had a good article on George Romney's stint at AMC a few years ago. The AMC domes are nearly identical to the Chrysler version except for the "point". AMC's are narrower and longer, with a space between the splines and the outer flared section for a decal that would read "American Motors"....

I have a set of the road wheels if your interested and cap. PM me with your e-mail and I can send you pics.

The AMC centres are often referred to as "volcano caps" among the AMC crowd. Never heard of the Romney moniker (although I get it...cute).

I think you're better off finding and restoring a good used set (rechrome as needed).

My late godfather drove a white '70 Javelin SST 390, bought it in 1972. It had a black landau vinyl roof, and red interior; a really cool car. His family still owns it. So I'm biased... But I'll take the AMC Volcano Caps, thank you. They seem to abound in eBay. For a mere $120 you can get a nice set of repops, too.

Mr. C -
What company restores the center caps and domes? I have my used set cleaned up now and inspected - but they. are. rough...

That's a tough chrome job right there, finding a shop that even wants to work on pot metal is the first challenge.
