Ok, here the story.

I purchased a 22" Big block Radiator from Frank at ECP back in June. It came with electric fans and the Aluminum Fan shrouds. It looked super sexy but there were some problems.

I couldn't open the cap, I purchased the wrong 22" radiator "they have two 22" radiators" so the mounting brackets didn't line up. And the Inlet needed to be in the middle not on the passenger side.

All and all I could have gotten a new cap, welded on some new aluminum mounting brackets and get a different hose. But I didn't want to. I work on other people cars all day long, the last thing i want to do is come home and work on my junk.

So I returned the radiator that week back to Frank and ordered the correct radiator. I had to bite $150 worth of shipping both ways but it was worth it to me. I was told it was a three week lead time for the radiator i wanted upfront. I said id wait. This was back in July.

Everyweek after those three weeks ive been told "one more week." Or "im getting the shipment in next week it will go out monday." I was supposed to get my damn radiator last week and again it didn't come. I contact Frank yesterday, "Hey man WTF. im being patient. What is going on? Where is my radiator i paid for?"

He charged me for the shipping 2 months ago too.

Now his response is "it didn't arrive on this shipment, next one mid oct. I do have a 2375s top hose PS let me know. I can refund if you like"

No I dont want to wait for your crap from China to come in, give me my money back. All Frank does is have these manufactured overseas and sells them to you. I should have bought something that was made in the USA I'm bummed that I had to eat $150 but thats how it goes sometimes. I'm going to keep the electronics I got from him for 2 electric fans since they are good quality.

Hope this helps someone.

From their website.

We do one thing: radiators. That's it. The reason this company was started was because of the horrible job these companies were doing dispensing tech advice. We are engineers that know cooling in and out. That's why we can offer a cooling guarantee and a lifetime warranty. We know our products will cool your car and we know they last for as long as you own your car. Guaranteed. Resolve your cooling problem NOW!

That sucks ,sorry to hear this. Your original radiator can't be re cored I assume.

I still have the original Radiator but my Chrysler over heats in traffic with the 440. I was also planning a rebuild in the future so I wanted a bigger radiator with electric fans. I have no problem spending my hard earned money on a quality product, and my options are limited for C bodies. But im pissed I got lead on for 2 months and would now have to wait till mid october to get a radiator from them. And with the summer heat dying down. I might as well just throw the radiator back in the car and wait till next year to do the swap.

Since you are a mechanic for a living you would know better than I but can't you get your radiator done over with more rows and add the electric fans to that if you want ? I have a 440 with stock rad ,clutch fan and shroud and sitting in traffic on a 90 degree day ,it gets warm but hasn't overheated. 215 f or so. I am in MA too.

I'm sure I could if I really wanted to. I want an Electric fan set up because I want that "cool" factor when I open the hood and the stock clutch or mechanical fans kill a around 30HP. Not that it really matters with a 440 but it is what I want. I should just buy a fan shroud because I wasn't running one which is probably why I ran into overheating issues.

My official address is 20min north of the city. However I'm in the Military and stationed down in RI and work a second job at a custom shop down here. I'm up in MA or NH on the weekends. I'm all over the place.

I see ,that makes sense as that is what you want. Don't throw that radiator out though if it can be re cored. Someone here may want it.

I just got an Email confirmation of the return of my $700. I'm really upset over all this because the first radiator i received seemed to be good quality. Its just a bummer they have problems getting their product from whoever they are buying them from. However I pretty much received my refund immediately. So I wouldn't write them off if you want a product from them. Just make sure their stuff is in stock before you buy it.

That is good news for sure.

I assume you meant you are keeping the fans and the shroud they mount in?
The problem with that is that every company makes their radiators with slight variations in size and mounting positions. Be very conscious that the radiator you end up eventually using, may not accept the shroud kit you have there.

Anyway, sorry you had to wait so long. Nobody is perfect but when you deal with a very small operation, you have to accept the good with the bad. You get the good personal service. I heard Frank is an ace from multiple people but sometimes you can get caught in a 'Just in Time' situation that isn't in time! :(

Years ago, I was looking for some KONI shocks. I called the places that said they handled them. MOST, when I told them what I wanted them for, said "We'll have to order them". From their adds, they looked like "big time" retailers/wholesalers. So I kept looking until I got to TireRack, which had them in stock. That's where I got them at about the same price the others advertised.

KEY thing is to find a vendor that MAKES the stuff they sell, in this case, radiators. The electrics and such that go with it, can be variable, as they'll procure them from other places. Any time a vendor appears to get their main-line item from others, delays CAN happen, as you mentioned.

The production delays probably came from the "production runs" of their supplier, which can change with time. In other words, they had to wait for the supplier to have enough orders for the radiator you needed rather than do the set-ups to build the one you needed as you/they needed it.

The other thing? When's the last time you did a block flush of the cooling system? Replacing all of the freeze/core plugs? Just curious. If your car has a "hot 440", why not upgrade to the factory a/c radiator, even with a custom model? Isn't it 26" wide? Other than the "kool look factory", I'm more concerned with preformance and reliability, myself, especially being in TX.

Just some thoughts,

I have never done a block flush on my 440. I have had the car for a year and a half. Before that it sat in a garage for decades. It has a 22" radiator.

I could make a 26 fit, however I have other projects that I need to finish first that are ahead of the 300 in queue. I just got orders two weeks ago that I am going over seas for a few years so I am also not looking to take the 440 apart now.

Its looking like this car is going to sit in a garage for two years come next year until I can get back to do a mild restoration.

i just had my radiator re cored but mine is a 26 inch 2 core but i could have had a 3 core put into that shell for $100.00 more but didn't need to .
