Awesome @cbarge!!! Just awesome.
I have a LS 440 hp manifold coming.
Just posted a want ad here for a RS hp manifold.
I'll see what's out there, buy the manifold, and buy the POR product you used. Thanks!! Ben
Where did you buy the special fasteners for the hp manifolds?
1968-71 Big Block C-Body Exhaust Manifold Fastener Kit HP BB 383 440 Studs Nuts | eBay
$54.99 for bolts seems a high price.

I saw where National Moparts wanted $72.95 for same kit. I guess there's not a lot of demand because the Left side is C-Body HP only. I purchased from the ebay seller rocketresto $54.99 + $8.50 ship + tax

it appears that me and @cbarge have the same right manifolds, 3751071.

here's a picture of the rear outlet left side in my '69 newport, #2951865-2. according to the list, it's a b-e unit, but it fit the hole. coincidently cleared the hydro-booster.

manifolds purchased from different vendors, same day, swap meet at stafford springs circa 1994. prices lost to memory.

For reference..the left TTi pipe mating up to the HP manifold. Note thick flange and lots of clearance near the torsion bar.
Not seen from the top but here you can see the spark pug heat shield bootie on #7 wire. HP's can and will burn wires!!
Mini-starter equipped,I moved the wire harness outa the way of the larger than stock pipe...

Also get good quality flange gaskets that have a metal ring around the inner diameter..
The el cheapo paper ones that came with the TTi kit burned out..

Don't mean to hijack this thread but when converting to lo-po logs to HP there are some differences.
The valve covers and plug wire looms are different for HP logs..
To be "correct" I recommend changing them but not absolutely necessary.
You can still use your existing valve covers and looms but may have to improvise the plug wire's locations to avoid burning them.
Typically on both banks the first three wires wires go underneath the HP logs, and #7 and #8 go along the base of the valve covers and back around under the HP log.
Finally,if you can find these manifold gaskets that act also as a heat shield-grab them.

HP's are notorious for cooking valve cover gaskets and this part prevents that.
I also use the re-usable high quality silicone valve cover gaskets. No leaks yet. Never use cork or rubber/felt ones ever again.

@cbarge On Hope This Helps, all posts here have helped me. I haven't done an HP manifold 440 c-body since the 1990s, so we gotta good thing going on here.
What mini-starter did you use? Did you have to use an adapter?

No adaptor needed.
I ordered from the local parts jobber a starter for a 92 Dakota with a 5.2L Magnum. It IS a mini starter!!
All that you have to do is cut the molded end between the starter wires harness, spread out a little bit to fit.

RS HP Exhaust Manifold Purchased
$250 obo. ebay. I offered $175+ship. Seller countered 225+ship. I countered $200+ship. Seller accepted. I purchased 1967-1969 casting number 2806900. $39.99 ship plus $10 tax so about $250 total. LS HP Manifold was $180 total so about $430 grand total. That beats most of the pairs priced that I have seen and those are $580-$600. The problem with these sets was that they had B-Body not C-body LS manifold. RS apparently fits, B, C, E body, but LS is C-body only. The worst I saw was AMS offering a RS NOS for $895 for the one manifold. (I guess the bracket is for holding the manifold steady.)

I personally do not use gaskets to mount my manifolds, or hook up the head pipes, everyone I have installed in the past started leaking after a year or two. I have been using high temp RTV for 20+ years now and since swapping to RTV have not had any exhaust leaks.

Is that for mounting these to iron heads or aluminum?

Brian, I did the same on my old 68 NYer and the 66 300 since they were drivers and underhood appearance looked the part... ..
Both were Lo-po logs cars.
But the BoaB underhood is much more detailed and yet meant to be driven.
So I installed the gaskets to avoid any cooking of the valve covers and valve cover gaskets.
Last June 1500 miles and two car shows in 3 days and still be able to display the underhood area...nice.

I had a gasket blow out on my Monaco, and used rtv and a gasket, it made it twenty miles. I'll try just the rtv and see how that works.

Washers for Manifold Attaching Fasteners?
@cbarge, @CanCritter, Brian, Scott and others. Do you use washers with the long hex head sleeve attaching nuts? If so, what kind? Looks like holes in LS HP manifold are too wide for small hex to seat against. Thanks, Ben

Hex head nut/sleeve/adapter holes do not look smooth like drilled out. (ebay seller applied cheap aluminum spray paint)

As Lea says no washers needed on the long barrel nuts, but do put a bunch of high temp copper never seize in there though. ;) If I was to do any type of washer I would use a copper washer.
