1960 Dodge Matador 4 door sedan

The Matador was a one year only Dodge offering, settling in as the base model in front of the premier line Polara. They sold roughly 28000 of them by year's end.

These big sedans come armed with the "Super Red Ram" 361 V8 (w/ 2 bbl cab) that push out nearly 300 HP. It moves that power to ground through a three speed, push button, Torque-Flight automatic transmission.

This is a three owner car, starting out in North Carolina, the second owner was also from NC, however, he moved to Ohio and had the car titled there.. But it never went north with him, it stayed in NC. He sold it to the current, third owner here in CT who has been in possession of the car for several months. In that time he buffed out the tired repaint (which appears to be in the original Raven Black), did the brakes, master cylinder and brake lines, installed a new muffler and tail pipe and also replaced the gas tank and fuel lines. After buffing the paint, NH Coatings was applied to the frame and underbody.

She starts and runs great, the dark grey vinyl interior is in very good shape with some regular wear and tear seen throughout but nothing major. This is a radio delete car and has the plate in place.

The rocket age design carries over from the exterior with a "flow through" instrument cluster. Unfortunately, there appears to be an issue with the odometer and the speedometer doesn't currently work. It does come with a new cable that has not been installed. Actual mileage is unknown.

The paint shines nicely however, close inspection will find some small nicks and chips, etc.

The frame and body are in generally very solid condition, however, the trunk (which can sleep 3) has had a patch panel welded in and there is evidence of small rot holes on the right side trunk floor.

Overall, a great, fun car to hop in and enjoy immediately and a VERY good starting point for a full on restoration if that's your passion. You very probably won't see another one at the Friday night cruise and she's sure to start conversations.

Any questions, for many more photos and video, to schedule a time to see her in person, or to make an offer, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Thank you for the interest.

I used to own that car. They seller is slightly full of BS.

I was the third owner (that I know of) in NC. I sold it to a man in Ohio who wasn’t from NC. Who in turn sold it to a guy in PA if I recall correctly and now it’s in CT? That’s 6 owners at minimum.

Also I installed the gas tank and sending unit, new carburetor and basics and got the car driving. Looks like they didn’t do much other than add a muffler.

How is the price compared to when you sold it off?

I agree. Getting thoughts?
Um, no. The 60 is a rare one for CHP, there were only 300, only 1 known to exist.

I'm more tempted by Chris' convertible. My problem is no where to keep another car, something will be outside and nowhere to work on a project without booting one if not both cars out of the garage.

Other than the steel plate / patch repair to the trunkfloor, what condition were the floorboards and the other usual rust areas like lower rocker area before the rear wheelwell, headlight buckets etc?

The car was in good condition. Really no real rust issues. The trunk floor had the patch already in it. The deck lid had been replaced with another at some point as it was green originally. The license plate area was chiseled out to try and open the trunk. They were unsuccessful. I got the trunk open and installed a new trunk lock and I put black duct tape over the hole to keep water/animals/bees out. I’m sure the tape is probably still there.

The front of the car got bumped at some point and one of the fenders was bent down slightly. Can’t recall which it was. Paint had minor dings and scratches throughout. Front lower balance was missing and the one D on the hood was missing.

Interior wasn’t too great. Cheap silver spray paint was on the dashboard. The interior was redone in green at some point and I started to dye it back to original colors of black and silver. Under the front cover was the original seat cover but it was torn and cut in spots.
