There is little info about the gold '73 in the CL ad, so it is difficult to make value calls, but this other 1973 (an F1 Mist Green NYB) that is for sale on Indiana FB seems IMHO more realistically priced at $5.5k. This triple-green 4dr hardtop looks in very good shape cosmetically (look at the paint and headliner). On the down-side, the driver's seat fabric is frayed (unsurprisingly for a car with 96k miles), there is a dent in the driver-side front fender, and (more importantly) the engine bay looks like it needs some going over. I suspect that the green car was in storage for a while, cue the amount of dust on the dash pad.
Here is another New Yorker for sale on FB, this one a light blue 4dr sedan in Louisville, KY. Again, not mine. It is listed as having blue interior and exterior, so it looks like HB1 Blue Sky with an H7B8 dark blue fabric & vinyl interior.
The seller has been asking $3.2k for seven weeks. Mileage "unknown." I see a number of issues including some rust in the lower passenger front fender, peeling paint, needs vinyl, etc. As for the interior, I see a crack in the dashed but only a hairline crack in the steering wheel (not fully shown, though) and no rip/tear in the seats.
While we are on the topic of 4dr New Yorkers (not Broughams), here is a black-on-black sedan that's been for sale for weeks in Urbana, Ohio. The asking price is $6.5k. That;'s high, but I have not seen many without a vinyl top.
I found some information on the web about the above F1 mint green NYB here on CarDomain. The photo gallery shows how nice the car was back in 2006, with the fabric however showing its age (though it was not yet frayed). I wonder if the poster (@hemichrysler on CarDomain) is a member here? Here is what he wrote:
"images taken at dealer forecourt * purchased : March, 2006 (...) This car has had only 3 owners. I traced the original owners; he is now 91 years old. I hope he reaches 100 years! I wrote them a letter and received a very nice reply for my auto records! I am trying to trace the second owner, Mr Chad Shafer of Scottsdale, Arizona."
Hopefully this interesting example of a 1970s luxmobile will be saved. She would fit in perfectly at Graceland!
