After 2 years of getting my shop ready to work out of and picking away at my car its finally time to get my butt in gear with my build. I started doing body work 4 years ago doing restorations and I was supposed to do the body work and paint this car so my boss could sell it. I fell in love with the car and knew I wouldn't be able to let him sell it after I did all the work. So I bought it from him and he got it from a guy in Arizona. This is a car I will never sell and I will drive the wheels off of it. I spend a few years in Iraq and dreamed of one day owning a mid 60's mopar and this is her.
It is rust free and doesn't need a single patch anywhere. Had a 383 with a 727 in it. The 383 had a blown head gasket I didn't know about when I got it. So 2 cylinders rusted and being that it ran when I got it those 2 are toast now. So now I have a 440 at the machine shop. Short block is scat conecting rods with wiseco pistons. Top half will be aluminum heads with efi. The rest of the car with be a tko 5 speed with big disc brakes, front and rear stabilizer bars, bigger torsion bars, adjustable shocks, wide tire front and rear, and 17" wheels. For the body all side trim will be removed in fact most trim will be removed and holes welded up painted a dark grey metallic. Interior will the tan and brown bucket seat from Tmi products. I have got a good start over the last few years will trying to finish the shop. This spring I will get my makeshift paint booth set up and get going on the body work. For now I will finish disassembly and getting parts together. Here she is when I got her.

Not much new. Got the firewall disassembled. Still waiting to get my block back from getting cleaned and cam bearings installed. Then it's off to the balancing shop. New pedals should be here Friday so this weekend hopefully start getting them installed.

Little more progress the last few days. Got the windshield out and dash pad. Started getting ready to get the dash out. Pedals are here so once the dash and back glass is out I can continue welding up trim holes and fabricating the pedal mount. Spring will be here soon and I would like to be ready to start spraying once it warms up.

Got the dash out today. Heater box next. Unfortunately I have a few projects to do in the shop next but hopefully have it out by next weekend.

Wow! :wideyed:

Those are the cleanest floors I've ever seen in a C body, or any other vintage Mopar.

Typical Arizona car. Great floors, rubber rotted.

Car is great project, Reminds me of a Saturday night street racer with the cold air, big motor and mags.

I'll be watching for progress as well.

Well I got a little done on her the last few weeks. Was down with the flu for a bit and changed my mind about 10 times on how I wanted to do it. But my pedals are in and about 90% done. Have to make a peice to go on the outside of the firewall to stiffen it up a bit. Nothing moves and I'm sure I could stand on top of it. But I would feel better about it after I had to cut out where the old brake mount was. Hopefully get that made today then finish smoothing the firewall.

After some time waiting for my engine parts to get done I changed my mind and welded the peice back in and got a set if factory pedals. And I'm glad I did. I decided to go with the tko 600 from silver sport transmission. I got it a few weeks back and what a nice kit. It has everything I needed to do the swap. And the kit come with the stuff to attach to the factory pedal setup. And I just felt safer. I did finally get my engine parts back. I checked all my bearing clearances and got my pistons connected to the rods.

So I took this week of of work so I can work on my car. I haven't had a vacation in 4 years and after all this covid stuff I figured it was time. So today I got my heads gasket matched and my second set of cam bearings arrived a day early. So they are in now too. Not sure who wrecked my first set. The guy who put them on or the one that machined my block. Either way it looked like that took a hone or scotch brite to them and I have a few more cars to build so I figured I would just get the tool and do it myself. So now it's time to wipe everything down one last time and start the final assembly.

When I first saw the pic of the head laying on the counter I thought that has to be in the garage, I know my wife would kill me if I had a head in the kitchen:D

I really hope to drive her before winter. She wont be done just would like to take her down the road.

Yeah that picture is in my shop. But they did get unboxed on the kitchen table when I got them. My wife is used to it now and knows there is no changing me. But I also clean up after myself so she doesn't really have any reason to be upset.

Well got the crank in, torqued, and rear main installed. Checked crank end play and she is within spec. so far everything is going together good.

Well my first engine I have ever built is almost done. Need to order a few things and get the car in primer and the stub frame painted so I can get it set in and break in the cam. Was really fun to put together and it looks great too.
