How do I get the turn signal cancelar plastic piece out of the steering column?

Here's what you've got:

Where you need to get to:

You need to find that 4 pin plug at the base of the steering column, remove the wires from that plug and pull them up to the top. This will allow the switch to unscrew without twisting the cruise control wiring into a pretzel.

FWIW, the pictures aren't the best, the second photo should show barrel connectors, NOT spade connectors, I don't know what the application for the second switch would be, never seen one like it.

I finally got the ignition tumbler out. It is jammed and will not turn with key in it. Is there some way to see if its the wrong key? Previous owner says it is but who knows. Tried all the keys. Also, the round headed key don't open the trunk. If not there are plenty of them for sale on E-bay. Anywhere else to buy one? Also, I think these can be refurbished. Any way to take it apart and see what is jamming it up? Any way to get a new key for it to ensure the key is the right key before buying a whole new ignition tumbler? Their pretty cheap but I always like to try to fix something if I can.

also, what is this electrical piece that goes into the square slot housing down in the coloumn. It has a piece of broken plastic attached to it. That's how I pulled it out and looks like. I noticed it goes under the ignition tumbler and kinda rides it (touching it) some kind of electrical piece?

you may want to find a locksmith nearby. there are all kinds of little springs and tumblers in there. if it like the gm columns, there is a rod that goes between the ignition cylinder and the ignition switch on the bottom of the column. when you turn the cylinder it pushes the rod but i can't remember what connected the cylinder to the rod.

Hello all, u helped me out on my post of how to get the ignition switch out. Well, I got it all out and new one in and buttoning it up and all but I forget where that big C-clip goes on the shaft. Does it go under the turn signal canceller plastic piece or does it go on top of the round large brass piece not shown in my post pics but it is last thing that goes on has 3 oblong holes in it that fits over the plastic piece. Confused.

Thanks for any help

Can you show us a pic? I'm not 100% familiar with the GM columns.
Here is where I am stuck at. Does the big C clip go where I am pointing screw driver at or does it go on top of the big metal piece? Lost? I cant get enough pressure to push down on the plastic thing to get that clip on. Any idieas or tools?
