1972 Newport. Every time I fill her up with gas, a little bit splashes out when the tank is full. The pump doesn't kick off fast enough. If I listen real close I can hear when it gets near the end and slow down, but it seems to always not stop until it comes out. Is there any remedy for this?

Same issue with the Newport. I just fill it slower. Saves a mess and usually someone wants to talk about the car anyway, so I'm patient.

And be aware of the angle of the pavement in conjunction to the car on top of it. My '59 must go slow near the end but listen and you will hear it getting full. My '04 GTO must have a significant pavement pitch or will only go about ten cents at a time before it kicks out.

I have the same issue also on several cars. As others said. just listen carefully for the sound to change and you know you are getting close. The problem with that, is also many of the pumps now play commerciald or music so you cant listen for the pirch change and end up getting a face full. The nozzle size and angle of the pumps now, just dont work well with the old cars.

Makes sense for the filler to be on top of the quarter panel. Wonder if that was done for a reason more than just style?
Style, they wanted a filler on both sides. Bean counters said no.
The Roadrunner and Belvedere have it behind the license plate.
The Charger is a model specific gas tank because of filler.

Now that you mention it, it would make logical sense that the aged and low rear springs may be contributing to my problem.

P.S. Thanks ya'll for the smart A** replies :icon_fU:
