These cars (Mobile Director) have gone from the proverbial unicorn (never seen) to regularly spotted, and VASTLY over-estimated value-wise.

If this were a standard 2-door Crown hardtop, it would be a $2K car at best. The Mobile Director option IS rare (especially on a '68) and IS cool, but is it work an extra $6K? Not sure what other value "tools" are out there, but Hagerty does NOT mention "add 300% for Mobile Director Option" with 67-68 Imps on estimated value.

It would be nice to see this car in better hands, amazing the bad photos/bad spelling/grammer you see with high price tags these days...….

I Would think it should fetch a premium of maybe 15%, like ac or a 4 speed does to other cars. My .02.

But its got "Duall Exhoust"!

It's rarer than a Dooge Palero, lol. I never heard of these mobile directors before I started eavesdropping on you guys. Is that passenger seat a swivel, or is it mounted backwards, or is it just sittin there??

It is a swivel seat, The desk attachment folds away and the seat can be turned with a lever at the base for forward use of the seat. There was also a bright light that folded away above the rear seat to light the desk. These were designed as a mobile office so that paperwork could be done in the field.

Did these cars have competition from Frod or GM? Like was there an Olds 98 or Caddy or Lincoln or big Merc version?? I could imagine a high end construction super, insurance guy or Hollywood guy using one, but I've yet to see one at a car show or display.

I think this option was pretty much confined to Chrysler, but I could be wrong on that.

The light plugged into the cigarette lighter.

Seems like a pretty straight car. I am surprised by the consensus of a $2,000 value. I know cosmetic resto work has gotten pretty steep.

There will be a lot of expense to bring this car back. About $4k just for paint. Leather interior with run will run at least another $3.5k. Another $800 for the dash. Steering wheel is also shot, about $350. Door panels look to be usable with some cleaning. Exterior chrome is also rough, bumpers about $800 each and the pot metal bright work could run another $2k+. Another $1k for the vinyl top. You start to get the picture? Do not know the condition of the lower body overall but there is rust out on the driver side rear quarter radius which usually means a water leak that has also trashed the trunk floor, likely from a bad rear window channel. This car is already a money pit before we even start talking about any mechanical repair. If someone was going to buy this car, it would make an interesting driver and conversation piece, but it is not likely to be a feasible restoration project anytime soon, given the low overall value of these cars to date.
