I have one of the 69 cars tagged y3 , but it is painted y2 ( polara 500 ) dose anybody know how many cars were paint wrong in 69?

Similar. We knew of a '69 Satellite or Road Runner that was painted red, purchased new by the then-current owner. The data plate indicated "white", not red. Many of us looked for little details that it had been painted somewhere, but found none.

I found confirmation that the y2 y3 mishap had happened but can’t find the number of cars. We looked the car over up and down, it was driving me crazy till I found out that it did really happen

Could have been that when the car came down the line, the needed paint hadn't been set-up or available for use (at that specific time frame)? "Next best/closest color" was used, rather than stop the line. Path of least resistance to keep the line running.

Just some thoughts,

Somebody also could have stamped the fender tag incorrectly maybe??

Yes I did all that it only has 26k on it

We have trouble getting accurate information on numbers regarding what was built . The only numbers we know of are from reports that survived and those are percentage based ( I may be wrong ) . I'd bet the farm no numbers exist of a car that got something that wasn't supposed to or a paint code error .

Either way it's a conversation at best. No value or devaluation to the car . At some point its gonna be said it was repainted the wrong shade ... just my thoughts
