Cool car but that flush mount grill has got to be the ugliest thing on 2nd gen chargers.

This is a good deal on a very rare car. I've only ever seen one of them, and that was in Don Garlits' Museum. Even so, I would hope to get the price down a little, given that there is no engine or transmission. I assume the diff is there. I would offer $20K and go from there. . .

I,ve seen a few of these...…..Carsten has also one.

Stylistically it’s the flush rear window that bothers me more on these. Very kool car though.

You'd consider that one for it's historical significance, not cuz it's pretty. Would definately raise some eyebrows if it was restored tho.

A friend of mine owned this car back when it was just another used car. https://www.hotrod.com/articles/first-1969-dodge-charger-500-remains-amazing-unrestored-condition/

First time I saw the car was sitting outside a local bar. I drove by it (I was in my SFGT for some C Body content) and said "Is that???" I backed up and wow... I knew what it was. Met him a few months later at a friends shop and got to be friends.

He bought it off a used car lot somewhere around the Albany, NY area around 1970-71. Drove it for a while and then started realizing that he had something special. A little research over the years and some letters and phone calls lead him to finding out it was the Hot Rod Magazine test car. Fast forward a few years and I'm standing next to the car at a car show and Galen Govier walks up and asks me if I knew who owned the car. I told him yes and noticed he was quite excited. He figured out it was the first one... Something my friend Mike didn't know.

Fast forward some more years and Mike had some bad times and the car he said he'd never sell got sold.

Fast forward even more years.... Things got much better and he owns a Hell Cat now.

Big John all that I have left are the registrations from both my Charger 500 and 1970 Sports fury GT. The 500 is in Canada I believe, haven't located the SFGT yet.

Back in the day I had a buddy that came home with a hemi equipped Charger 500. He wanted a Daytona but couldn't find one, but found a 500!!?? Anyway he shortly thereafter got tired of explaining to everyone what it was and why it looked that way. Also the hemi never ran right on the street. He sold it and bought a 440 equipped Charger R/T

I may be spreading false info but somewhere I heard they were designed like this to run in nascar and had less air dgar than the regular 69 charger. There needed to be at least 500 production models made to be able to also enter them in nascar, the name charger 500 was given. I dont have facts in front of me but I seem to remember that story. You other guys may know more accurate info. I saw one for sale in Okc about 35 yrs ago for 25000! Wish I knew Then!

For those who may not know about these here is the rear, the rear window was same as the Datona
