ammeter repair and upgrade

Remember that the 426 engine was not offered on C-Bodies, they are different boosters. See section 5-100 of the '69 parts manual. B-Body booster is 1" smaller and has a different linkage setup. Correct booster is a C-Body only. Parts book does show a Midland-Ross booster with some disc applications, but this was not used on any police cruiser that I am aware of with 440 engine.

First I wish that a 426 Hemi came in the C body. I pondered abut putting one of the new style Hemi's in the car either a 5.7 or 6.4 but decided to keep it as original as possible. Second the C bodies were the test beds for the B bodies, that is why there are parts that can interchange. Third this came out a vehicle that had "upgrades to meet the requirements of the NMMP commander. Fourth Still learning about this car. With requirements presented it would require a heavier duty breaking system. If memory serves me the ideal split is 60% front and 40% rear on stopping. Just remember it was ordered with a trailer hitch and it was used for trailer towing for rescues etc. This car I believe is original because it only has 67.000 original miles. Looking to go back to Grants and talk with person who sold this car, because he remembers the car very well and the person who he sold it to. by the way do you have a picture of Midland- Ross setup?

wow, that wiring is a mess. i see buss fuses, lamp cord, bad crimps and wires spliced with electrical tape. delco regulators have 4 prongs on one side, but i've never seen one with fins. you may be better off to remove everything and start over with a good used harness and add the police circuits you need as you go. how is the under dash harness?
You are reading my mind. The guy who originally owned the car would be by today's analogy for computers a hacker. Knows what he wants to do but doesn't have the formal training to make it look nice.

Midland Booster attached. Quick ID is that the midland boosters have a large clamp holding the two halves together, other wise known as the single clamp booster. If you use the search feature of this site "Booster ID" there are some large photos of the various boosters used by mopar.
