I have a 68 Newport that has been customized. The interior has been replaced. I believe it is a 1968-1970 c body interior from a 300. My issues are that the material is deteriorating. I can’t seem to find the pattern anywhere. I have gone to a local trim shop and he directed me to legendary auto interiors. They just don’t have my style or pattern shown. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think the reason you can't find it, is because it's not original. Looks like it has been reupholstered closely to the original, duplicating the pleats, with generic, off the roll upholstery. Looks like a 50's pattern. Could be ford, Chevy... Looks like you have black door panels, black vinyl, or cloth would be nice. I think legendary even has the patterns for those buckets.

I believe the basic style might be from a '68 Imperial, but not that particular fabric. Check out the Color and Trim books at www.hamtramck-historical.com. There should be swatches of what was used for each model year, fabric/vinyl/leather. The fabric might be more "1958" than 1968, I suspect. ANY Chrysler fabric and vinyl back then had a metallic tint to it (metallic for the fabric, pearl for the vinyl/leather). You don't realize that until you put it next to a similar GM or Ford item.

The trim shops used to have their "parts books" for the OEM fabrics and vinyls. "Detroit" and "DeLeo", as I recall. Industry numbers for each item so that they could be ordered from the vendors that way, just like ordering car parts.

There should also be "French seams" in the vinyl, where the fabric is sewn onto it. Rather than just "a seam" as other OEMs used back then. Usually holds up better, too.

Just some thoughts,

Yeah I have gone through all the dealer books from 64 to 74 at Hamtramck. The guys at SMS seem pretty confident in their findings. I will wait and see what their sample looks like. Thanks for all the input everyone
