The new oil pan has fixed the big oil leak problems I had, but there's still a small drip. Found out it's coming from that round plug in the middle of the picture (rear right side of the transmission, just above where the pan bolts on). Can anybody tell me what that is?

Lazy builders don’t change the o rings on that shaft. It’s not fun or easy to do with the trans in the car.
Best fix at this point is clean it well and put sealer over the top of it.

The photo above is of the front band, there are more and different parts to the rear band linkage. But the idea is similar.

Thanks for the answers guys. Coincidentally there's another post showing Coldwar Motors digging into the 727 and I could see that shaft in the video. I really don't think I want to be doing anything big to fix what now seems to be a very small leak so I think I'll take the advice and try and put some sealant around it.

Blast and swab some brake cleaner in the area, maybe even a couple times to dry up whats there as well as possible before attempting the sealer.

I drained the oil and used the brake cleaner and rtv as suggested. It's been two weeks now and she's still as stay as a bone. The fix looks pretty neat actually. So nice to be able to park somewhere without dripping oil. Just wanted to say thanks for the tip.

How common is this to leak? Never heard of a leak there but my son replaced the pan gasket over the weekend & theres still a small leak he narrowed down to the same spot as Xlatr. Curious.

More likely, the fluid is running around the edge from the shifter seal. Did he change those seal while the pan was off?

Thanks for the link! I did that seal when I first got the car from my grandmother years ago but I dropped the pan & valve body. I'll look, it's possible it's leaking there again as it's been oh about 27 years now:)
