Exhaust for 74 Fury Gran Sedan

Hello Friends,
I'm looking for a dual exhaust line for my 74 Fury Gran Sedan. I searched a lot on the net, but it seem quit hard to find something for 74 and up. Lots of stuff for pre-73. Looking for something universal. 400 ci, Torqueflite, no air-cond. Anybody have a link or some leads?

I believe your only option will be to have an exhaust shop make the exhaust for you.
 
Yep! As mentioned above! No such animal. Have your local ship whip one up for ya. That’s what I did on my 75 NYB.. I’ll attach pics if I can find them.
 
Let us see how it turns out. Once I get some basics sorted out on my Fury I’ll be getting my rusty, tired, and single exhaust replaced with duals.

That’s with flowmaster 50 series. I have a video of the sound but websites not letting me upload it..
 
Why no good?
I’m picky about the visual aspect of it. Less bent pipe going into the muffler with Offset in/out.. after the guys were done, I wasn’t completely satisfied with the bending and pipe alignment. But! I didn’t wanna be to bitchy since my car was hostage once they cut the old stuff out.. i watched as close I could while they worked. Just say’en
 
Looks very good @75LandYacht , tips about offset are very interesting too, and helpfull. That's probably how I'll do. But here in France, working on american cars are not so common than in the US, and for a stainless dual exhaust line, that'll cost me way more than $450...
 
Probably one reason for "no '74+ C-body" aftermarket kits is that by this time, only the OEM replacement brands (i.e., Walker Exhaust, an OEM supplier) sold replacement parts for them. Plus fewer and fewer factory dual exhaust engines in the production mix. Usually only the HO and Police-engine vehicles had dual exhausts. THEN came catalytic converters and their stainless steel allow pipes (for the heat?) in '75+ model years, which further reduced the number of dual exhaust cars. Although Chrysler put a real dual exhaust/dual converter system under their dual exhaust cars, rather than a "dual outlet, single converter" system as GM did.

In order to follow the floor pan, which was still contoured to support a factory dual exhaust system (and later heat shielding in the cat converter vehicles), the offsets in the muffler inlet/outlet are needed to better follow those existing contours.

One thing I was glad to see on the '74s, when they came out, was the generally higher-capacity of the exhaust system, compared to the '73 and prior cars. Larger cross-section exhaust manifolds followed by larger-diameter exhaust pipes and muffler inlet/outlet pipe diameters. ALL the way to the rear bumper. MUCH better than what Ford and GM were doing back then, by observation.

Nice work on that exhaust system!

Does anybody know what is different between the 73 chassis and the 74? If the floor pans are basically the same but the routing from the manifolds is different, a Tti headers back system would get you 90% of what you need in bolt on condition and all you would need fabbed are the head pipes. They list for up to 73 for Cbody.

Tti stuff is pricey but the people I know personally that used their stuff said it was literally take it out of the box and bolt it on, no beating, bending or swearing. It all looked factory installed when they were done including headers.

So, I'll have to get one "taylor made". C-bodies are pretty rare in France and Europe. You can find tons an tons of Mustangs, Corvettes, Camaros, and Cadys, but those old large boats, only a very few, what makes them hard to maintain in good condition. :) :wideyed:
 
So I’ve been building up a 75 royal Monaco coupe. 400 now a 512. I went with the hooker headers for it and made my own 3” exhaust out of 2 stainless exhaust kits off eBay. Lots of work but doable on our boats. I can get some full photos later if you’d like to see as far as clearance and routing.

If any of you are interested in using the hooker headers for our model years there are some mods you need to make to the shifter linkage to clear the header. I can post some pics of all the gotchas I ran into building this thing. Also the 440 source 6 quart pan will not clear our center link without lots of modification. I made it work but not fun. Cars a blast though! Made 602hp and 707 torque.

I asked TTI about that and the reason they don’t list it is they’ve never been able to get a 74+ to see if it fits. By building my own I believe the issue will be the routing over the rear axle. By the looks of their photos the shock location was shifted outward for our model years. Their routing is outside the rear shock. Only option for ours is inside.

Here’s a shot of my routing. If I did it again I would’ve bought a better quality tubing like stainless bro’s. The eBay stuff is okay but the thickness consistency of the bent tubing varies a bit so it’s easy to blow through with your tig if your humming along and then it all the sudden gets thinner. The stainless bro’s product is far superior.
