Does anybody know where one can get these Terminal Adapters for the mini starters for the 440 and likely other RB, BB engines? In Canada or U.S.? Thanks.

That is a neat aftermarket item...never knew about those. But I have not had any issue installing the mini starters after removing the OEM adapter and then just installing the wiring on the starter. I know some have clearance issues with the terminal ends and the block.

This is a new one on me, so I did some A body reading, enjoy
mini starter solenoid stud relocation

I did the mini starter swap on my 87 small block, and theres plenty of clearance. I picked up used starter from the local yard for 25 each out of older dakota pick ups. Love the mini starters, the terminal extensions are the icing on the cake.

That's a old stock weighs a ton starter isn't it? Been a while for me as well, but doesn't it tighten up when you slap a cable on it and tighten it down? Have you ever thought about using a mini? You'll never look or go back to those old monsters again.

it is a old stock weighs a ton starter yes its original - i guess it may tighten down once hooked up - i dunno i am doing what ive never done before so i was scared of breaking it, this forum is the only place i have for knowledge. id swap to a mini-starter but this one works so i can apply that $hundo to something else. so you think its a-ok as is?

Just don't go ape-**** tightening it, just a short handled wrench with a securing twist is all you need. Also known as "good & snug" and you'll be groovy. Good Luck

The big lug has 2 nuts, 1 that holds the stud tight. And 1 that holds the terminal to the stud. Tighten gently the jamb nut against the ceramic housing till the stud doesn't wobble anymore. If it wont lock down the starter will act like it's not getting any juice cause its essentially a contact point for power. Good luck.

Not sure if anyone is still active on this thread but I have one question regarding a stock starter -vs- a mini starter.

What is the difference?

Reason I ask is I have a 72 Fury wagon, I'm test fitting a set of the Sanderson small block hedders which do look to fit the one side but the side of my 360 with the starter looks a bit close so before I decide to pull the stock manifold off I wanted to think of a plan before all the involved work for if I do get the manifold off, test fit the hedder and realize clearances are a bit too tight.

I'm thinking Mini Starter for a 72 360 but before I start searching- does anyone know how a Mini Starter is different from a stock starter?

Thanks so much guys.

In addition to lighter, smaller, relatively cheap as used are plentiful. They spin at a much faster rate.

The OP hasn't ever replied to any answers or comments here, hasn't said thanks or anything, we don't even know if they ever got it fixed? They were last seen on the 18th of Mar, I wonder if they even have a clue as to weather or not this thread has been resurrected or not? I highly doubt it!
And people wonder why I have a problem with the I-net!

Well-I think my local mechanic and NAPA parts shop that used to be a Hot Rod shop and figured out one possible solution so they have the new mini starter and will be giving it a test. If I figure this out- I'll surely post NAPA part number and what went into what I'm trying to do.

NAPA Part # 244-6415 mini starter worked for me.
Got my hedders installed and now- onto dual exhaust.
