What's the going rate for a dual exhaust for a C Body in your areas? I am due for new exhaust system for my 74' New Yorker. Usually, I always buy mandrel bends and straight pipe and build my own. Thought about letting an exhaust shop handling this one. So far I was able to get 2 quotes. $650+ and $700ish! Yikes! I wasn't expecting that.

That sounds about right nowadays.
The expense is in bending the tailpipes which are the more difficult pipes to bend.

TTi makes a dual exhaust system for 65-73 C's for roughtly 800 but may not fit Formals.

If I remember correctly it was between 600 to 700 bucks for me a few years ago.

Man, this is almost half of what I paid for the whole car.... lol.

Last year I had new exhaust for my '69 Pontiac Grand Prix. Aluminized pipes, cheaper stock mufflers (sounds better) and no resonators for $400. I would check with any car club members who they use and outreach any custom exhaust places within a 30 miles area.

That is the going rate. If you want a large diameter H-Pattern, that will run about $800.

No big diameter needed. Just some average 2-1/4" aluminumized duals with some cheapy turbo mufflers is all I want. Don't want loud.

I paid about $700 for set of 2.5" duals from the manifolds back for my 68 Sport Fury in 2017. I ordered my exhaust from tti at the 2017 Spring Fling in LA to take advantage of the show discount and that was about what it cost to ship, so I essentially got free shipping. My system went in easily and it sounds great, although I went with the standard mufflers and nothing fancy. I am very happy with it and would encourage you consider tti as an option, too. They know what they are doing and they make a good product.

I used a speed shop used mufflers the ppl recommend and went with 2.25" pipe. For around 1000 dollars and it's a better quality job than a quick turn around exhaust place

I wouldn't use less than 2.5" pipes. The difference in material price between the 2 isn't worth worrying about and they look and sound better in my opinion.

Don't use any "turbo" type muffler unless you like drone at light throttle cruise. They all do it.

Kevin

I paid $550 for 2.25 aluminized and turbos including $65 each for the tips. This is in central Texas.

We're probably the exceptions to the rule. I paid about that for the Polara as well.
However there is a place in the same town that will ding you for around 6 bills if you want a top notch stainless system. That was completely out of my budget.
Mine is a 2.25 diameter setup with stock type mufflers. Since the car originally came with a 2 inch single exhaust this will be more than enough for a driver/cruiser.

With this whole pandemic going on and not working the dual exhaust is going to have to wait for awhile.

Fifteen minute drive from the house and much cheaper than any kit online I’ve found.
Gotta price a set of dual pipes & stock mufflers for the Monaco.
Thanks

I spent $400 for a full 2.5 inch welded aluminized system with H pipe from manifold back to bumper. I supplied Borla XS mufflers and Vibrant Resonators which ran around $225. $400 covered price for all pipe bending, welding and installation of mufflers and resonators. Complete system $625. Did not go with resonators originally but had them installed after to reduce drone at 1600 rpm.
