Probably this one.
Helpful to supply year. But looks like my ‘68 Dodge on a 383. My tag is BBD - 4423S
Ball and Ball 1-1/2” BBD
 
Same casting number as mine. STD 2bbl manifold. Not sure how many years it was used. But on my ‘68 Polara 383.

If you're looking for a carb kit, probably just one to cover all of the later-'60s Carter BBD 1.5"2bbls, which came on the 383 (possibly some middle-'60s 361, too?). A "28______" casting number would probably have been first used for about 1968 model year (or a model year later?) item.

Sir Patrick Your linkage is hooked up wrong, the return spring bracket is twisted around, return spring is too short, and you’re missing the spring on the throttle pressure linkage.

hwyycrzr Your green return spring is in the wrong place, it too low to pull. It should be connected up where the throttle cable is. That’s probably why there is another spring added on, so it will return the throttle.

I was about to argue with you. But my service manual was turned to that exact page. I remember that second spring being on there when I started tinkering on this car as a kid. I was beginning to think my spring was week. Then again maybe dad did that to make it harder to go faster when we were driving as kids.
I gotta go try it now.

Does it work better now? Swap ends on the Green spring, it’s backwards.

the lower hole is for the cruise control pivot link to mount there.

Thanks. It actually returns to idle now. I swear there was an instruction telling me to put it in the lower hole. Probably only bad advice. I think it is fine now. Thanks again.

Good luck getting it rolling. If you are mechanical and plan to clean and kit the carburetor your self. They are a fairly simple carburetor. (Get a service manual.) If you’re looking for someone else to do it @Dana (Woodruff Carburetor Specialties) is a member here and can rebuild or rebuild and restore.
 
is this the same Adam 12 set up the police had on some of the 383’s?
So many moved away from the trusty 2 barrels including myself.
They got a bad wrap just because they were two barrels. I saved my intake and carb for my 400 if it ever becomes impossible to score a decent center section for a thermoquad yeah I know I’m a sucker for punishment but I just love the look of it. Had one on a 77 camper 360 too. Great carbs.
Good luck finding an obi wan kenobi who likes playing with them and actually know what their doing. I’m a sucker for the factory look over aftermarket. That’s a beautiful example in the pics. Is that the Holley?
 
It’s the stock original Carter Ball and Ball. Actually a very nice running and idling carb. The only issue is my choke will sometimes stick wide open and won’t always allow my fast idle cam to set for starting.
 
I've stocked up on BBD rebuild kits for mine from here:
CK72 carburetor kit for Carter BBD 32 bucks apiece
rebuild it every few years, mainly for the pump plunger which gets eaten up with the ethanol gas
These are super easy to take apart and clean up; if I can do it, anyone can..

yours looks like it needs some TLC! :)
 
-The 400s had the Holley 2210 2bbl, a new design back then. Later the EGR version, 2245. But as time progressed, they had an issue due to people over-tightening the air cleaner stud. Similar to the old Stromberg WWC 2bbls on the 383s and such. As the heavy-wire mount that held the air cleaner stud on the BBDs did not have the same issues.

On the 360s, afaik, the Carter BBD 1.25" (318 size BBD) was on the '80 360s, just that one year, rather than the Holley. Same intake manifold but with the smaller throttle bore mounting pad grafted-in (from the looks of it). Otherwise, it was the Holley 2245 on 360s. The BBD 1.5" would have been on the 361, though, years earlier.

Looks like I am missing a spring, and the hardware to connect the throttle cable...anyone know where I can find these? As well as a new one to replace the one I have?
