Wyatt convinced me to destroy my 71...

As you may know, my eyes see a good match, but being colorblind, I have to depend on someone else to answer your question accurately .
Xenon and/or Wyatt will be at the shop maybe this week and will be able to give you a better answer than I can after they see it in person to give you their opinion on the color match.
Keep in mind colormyauto1 lists the GY5 as a match as they do with every other paint color they sell, so with me being half assed blind when it comes to seeing colors, and giving you my opinion on "an exact match" comparing old to new paint , I have my limits.
With that said, in your opinion, do you see a mismatched color ?
On a side note, the car hasn't been buffed or waxed nor has anything been done to the body with the exception of being washed since I've had the car.

LOL I see a pretty good color match on da screen there, Tim.

FWIW, I have used these guys for the Newport with good success...

Without a side by side comparison Tim, I can't tell how good the match is either, and a computer screen adds a layer of uncertainty as well. So I will just rely on Wyatt or Xenon to give their opinion.
All I know for sure is that accurate color matching is one of my biggest problems in doing automotive refinishing and the ingredients needed to achieve some of the very fine metallics that were used back in the late 60s, early 70s are generally not readily available any more and the yellows/golds are some of the most difficult to duplicate accurately. So if colormyauto1 has successfully duplicated the GY5 to match your factory color when cleaned up I would seriously consider them as a source for my future paints.

It does look like a very good match from what I can tell Tim. If your original door were buffed out and waxed, it too would have more depth/gloss to it. That is definitely a better match than I ususally can get with any of my current sources. I would surely consider them for the next similar job I will have to do. I will give them a call regarding the types of paint they use and color sources, etc.

Will you start engine assembly soon?
That's the plan, but I would like to get the heater box back in beforehand to free up some space in the shop.
I have just about everything needed except for piston rings & 4 connecting rod bearings which were on back order, but they're due to be here this week.
The booster is out being rebuilt, and I need to check the engine wiring harness again. I may need to replace some wires, or source another one.
Oh, still need to get various size hoses and new vacuum lines too.
I'm sure this isn't everything though.

The heater core was delivered from AC Global yesterday. I was glad to see it arrive and was anxious to get to the shop today to put it in the heater box, as it was the final thing to do before putting the box back into the car.
I was pretty bummed when I found out the two boxes wouldn't seal with the new heater core in place, leaving a gap of approximately 1/4" between the forward and inner boxes. I removed the new HC, and put my old one back in just to check the fit, and to see if there might be something else I'm missing. But with the old HC in place, everything fits properly and the two boxes would seal the way they should.
Finding the reason for the problem fit, being that the new HC unit from AC Global has end plates and a center plate attached to the base plate which is supposed to be flush to the box and in addition the plates are riveted on, which adds to the height mis-match for the box to seal properly. The same section on the OEM HC is recessed below the plate.
I've sent them a message to notify AC Global of the manufacturing differences between their product and the OEM unit with pictures, that can probably help them see where to modify the HC5777 product they are selling.
I wanted to get this news out here for two reasons, 1) to let FCBO members know the HC5777 won't fit properly, and 2) to keep everyone informed as to how AC Global responds, after knowing there product needs to be re-tooled to properly work on our cars.
Being an American made product, I am hoping they make the corrections needed so we don't have to buy junk from China.
I'll repost with a new thread when I hear back from them.

Thanks for being the test fit guy for these new parts Tim. At least we know for sure their condensers and evaporators are direct, correct fits in both cases which is very good news alone, as I don't have any other source I would trust for those parts at all.

Now, being made in the USA, the heater core sure looks beefy in its construction, so they need to learn how to cheapen/lighten that part just like Chrysler and any other automotive company would do to save cost/weight where they can.

For parts like these to be made in small volumes for this company and be a reasonable business case suggests the U.S. might start to be great again from a manufacturing standpoint. So lets see how they respond. It would be nice to buy from one source somewhere down the line, hopefully soon, and not have to buy overseas and be discouraged every time.

One question that occurs to me is whether the material these heater cores are made from that Tim received (proabably aluminum) will stand the test of time compared to the original ones made from copper/brass it appears. If there are galvanic corrosion issues, maybe it might be best to have your current heater cores redone by a competent radiator shop with original material cores, if there are any of those around any more. Everything for the last couple decades is just throw away aluminum stuff, so no one repairs them, they just replace them.

I had the brass/copper heater core on my 1960 300F redone by one of the remaining shops in my area, and it turned out OK, but didn't fit great and the work appeared somewhat sloppy, but it was tight and didn't leak. I initially put it in my F, but before I put the heater box cover back on, I spotted an NOS one for that car that I had overlooked, and it sure looked and fit nice.

Great job providing the feedback!

I’m assuming they had an OE unit to follow as a pattern.. why would they make it so different that it won’t fit? I understand maybe wanting to venture out and wanting to maybe improve on the original in someway but!! If it doesn’t fit, then it doesn’t fit. Hopefully they’ll except your feedback as positive and make the necessary changes. I too am curious to see the response to your inquiry..

I don't think they had a complete interior housing to test fit their evaporator and heater core within - that is maybe the problem - they didn't mess up on the evaporator and it does indeed fit inside the inner portion of the interior housing assembly correctly, but the heater core must fit inside the outer cover of the interior housing assemblyand it doesn't quite make it. I think they tried to simpify the heater core design, but that didn't work even though it is beefier than the original one because it is a little too thick.

Even with the slow down in the economy, today turned out to be a good day. Wyatt came over and after we dropped off the seats at the upholster for Medina where I had my Imperial front seats done, we headed back over to my shop and got the stub frame back onto the New Yorker. Now that its back up on the hoist, and the floor is clear, the engine reassembly will start.
My neighbor came over and had a few beers with us as we were finishing up everything, and helped to roll it up the ramps to the hoist.
Afterwards we realized we ran out of beer and it was already dark, we figured may as well call it a night. But just before Wyatt left he laid out a 120' patch behind the shop in his Servpro wagon just outside the shop door.
The entire shop was filled with the smoke and the burning smell of his back tire. I only got one pic, but that was a good way to end the day IMO!
I'm sure he's got some better pics as we stood there an laughed.
