yes. drove it home after paying for it but the gas lines leaked and brake lines popped 3 seconds after backing it out of my friend's garage

I have a 440 laying around that was for a different project, would the swap be worth it? It has the small block 727 so I would need a different trans and driveshaft.

Its your car, do as you please but I would leave it original. A low mileage, unmolested survivor is worth more left alone in my opinion.

You got hosed and I feel sorry for you, therefore I'll give you what you paid for it and take a beating because I'm a generous kinda guy...

I get that but its a real dog. I got beat by my friend's mom's grand caravan with 200k on the clock and a 4 cylinder. Just want it to be little quicker

Great car !! But if you want to go drag racing in it you’re going to spend a lot more than 1,500 bucks just to beat your friends caravan. It would be fun to watch though.

Your purchase price was a fair deal considering the car needs brake and fuel system work. Changing it over to a 440 will be a major PIA in that the transmission, drive line and rear end will all need to changed as the car probably has an 8.25 rear end with a small block. It does already have disc brakes which is a plus. I would be inclined to give it a good clean up and drive it as is once the repairs are finished.

I’m not surprised. Most of the newer vehicles are going to be faster than our Cs and many “muscle” cars too. My 69 GTO could easily be beaten by a blue hair in her Northstar Caddy! But mine sounded soooo much better.

Guaranteed it's a 8 3/4 under there with a 276 gear.

I'd do the 440 swap in a heartbeat . Not hard with the right parts and they are easily obtainable you just gotta look for them.
