C-bodies in France.

My condolences to the family Xavier..

Can you give us more details and pictures of the car and it current condition please?

oh sorry !! Never saw you answer !
CAr is running, body in bad shape, a lot of work on it. I bought another one with considerably less work on it, either to cur or to swap.
Good points are : interior is very nice, new carpet, and engine was redone before bying.

So, i still have the hurst so I am working on it a bit. And it is not very easy with the quarantine here. I can't buy anything and have only simple tools, living in an appartement, not garden etc..

So I rebuild the headlight motor using a milk bottle to make the gaskets and an ols cd ot make the plate... :)

Hi Xavier, greetings from Czech Republic. Do you still have the wagon without the title? If nothing has changed in our legislation lately, we could get the title for historical vehicle just with the purchase contract. Maybe you might be able to get your plates when imported back to France based on the historical title? Just idea to consider. How about other countries maybe closer to you, like Belgium or Germany, did you check the procedure and then re import?

My country have age limit for vehicles made outside EU / without EU certification (popular are muscle cars, pickups or big SUV) and needs to be 8 years old or younger, in order to be eligible for registration and obtaining title. No EU certification require to pass few technical tests which could reach costs up to 2,000 USD. Anything older, can not be registered unless have a title from EU. To pass this obstacle, its not uncommon to get the German registration first, where is no this age restriction. Then you can proceed as standard import being under age of 8 years. Long story short, just the missing title should not stop you driving your car and hopefully you might find some way around the legislation.

For the historical title, the car must be in very good shape, no rust and mechanically sound, nice interior. Lately is accepted "california sun" patina until certain level and mainly minimum age 30 years. In France, you do not have anything like historical vehicle title?

The condition for historical vehicles in my country are very good, cheap insurance (usually 1/12th of the standard rate - 20 USD per year in my case), renewal check for condition every 2 years (40 USD) and must be member of some historical club (100 USD). Actually I passed today the TUV inspection for the brake check and goes for renewal check on Friday - this time because of covid, it will be kind of drive inn to keep the social distance.

thanks for your offer, maybe it is to consider :)
What do you need ? can it be done via mail ? because the car can't run right now.

So it has been a long time. I do not have many cars now. i had to change plans because i do not have anywhere to put many cars now.
So the citroen is gone.
The hurst is gone ( too much work for me with no room )

I have a 68 corvette and i still have the 70 monaco.
the monaco will move in belgium to a friend.
so the week end i did some work on it to be road ready.

i bought a PST kit yeeaars ago for it :

Perfect kit, everything match.

to be fair, if you have the right tools it is kit easy and fun to do. It went perfectly well.
With the proper tools we removed the front end in 2/3 hours.

The only bushing we didn't do are the lower arm ones because of lack of time and incertitude for the removal of the torsion bars. but they still are to be done.

quite everything is here :

went to a friend for removal : it can be done with hammer but for the ball joint it is better with a press. We removed the upper bushing and put them back just with a hammer.

Hi, apologize for the late response. It's a way more complicated process requiring a physical presence of the car passing the technical inspection and the car must be in very good condition in order to acquire historical plates/documents. You must be also a member of the historical club. It might be the vital option only if it cannot be done elsewhere since it does not require a title but a purchase contract with VIN indicated, is enough. Nothing is so easy as it seems, we are not living in the USA where it could be done via mail, sorry :)

Sorry to hear that the Monaco will be gone, but at least it is going to a friend of yours. If you have more photos to post, including ideally the fender tag (PhotoBucket lost in in the "for sale" threads from Oct. 2015 and Jan. 2016), that'd be great!

Hi, monaco is gone and not gone at the same time. It is always a bit complicated with me.
Car is at a friend's in belgium and very very well cared. It is a resurrection.
Lately we are searching for instrument cluster ( or at least fuel and temp gauge that are broken ).
Electricity ill be the next step next year.
My friend wants to buy it but for kiw he has the car to enjoy and use as of it was her.

He kind of customise it a little but do not worry nothing easily removable, i am very clear with that : a valuable car is a matching, original car. And if modified, keep original parts and nothing permanent.

The 300 hurst is gone in middle of france, too much work for me, i do not have the space for big body work.

Have a nice '68 l79 corvette and still my caddillac hearse.

My biggest issue is the polara wagon. I will make a thread for it.
