Oh Lord'y I don't even want to think on how much paper route money was spent on these.

I'm glad by 1971 I had other activities to waste my money on.

I just heard this weekend that the Arby's in the town I grew up in, Meadville, PA is taking down their sign. Apparently there are very few still in use and it has become too difficult and costly to get parts. The passing of another era I guess.

There are one of these Arby's signs right up the road from me. I believe the Arby's has been there since 1976.

Remember phone books used to be large catalogs. Also remember when every city had its own auto wrecker! Nowadays phone books are a lawyers guide searching for victims and auto wreckers are just down to one where used to be 50. The one yard is owned by a Chinese company.

I suspect most won't remember these, IBM 5251 terminal used on IBM midrange computers (S/32, S/34, early AS/400). Steel case, steel keyboard, 99 lbs for the monitor and keyboard. The only thing that ever broke was the buss fuse in the monitor cabinet. They were perfect for hostel environments. I've seen them get hit with a fork truck, knocked to the floor, I put them back on a table, opened the case with a quarter or nickle using the quarter turn nuts, bottom center of the side of the monitor. Replaced the fuse, turned it back on and it was ready to go. We used these into the mid 90's before the cheap Chinese crap was cheaper then maintaining these. After 20+ years, the screens were badly burned in and the keyboard and switches started wearing out.

Is that the 1970's era computers that Trump says are being used to distribute unemployment?

We had something like that in a place that I worked back in the 90's. I don't remember what brand they were, but they had a little slot in front for a floppy disc.

I remember these when they first came on the market. I thought about buying one. I'm actually glad now that I didn't.
