Very rare Kevin,

I believe they only came with a certain option package available on Dodge Diplomat coupes in 1980 and 1981. There's probably over 1000 six inch rims for every seven inch rim made.

The six inch rims came on C bodies, Cordobas, vans and pickups. Cordobas probably account for the majority of the road wheel sets out there.

as far as i know the 7 inch road wheel, when painted black, was used in 78 as the basis for the "aluminum fascia basket" wheel code W28 standard on the new yorker salon package and available on b body magnums, furys, monacos in 78 and magnums and cordobas in 79.
i have several spare sets of W28s if anyone is interested but i think the shipping from here would be a killer

The 15x7s were unique to the Chrysler LeBarons and possibly Dodge Diplomats of the later 1970s. Usually had a body color insert rather than silver paint, as the 15x6s had silver paint inside of the chrome rim/16-slot area of the wheel's inner section. Never did see any on the pickup/van vehicles, not to say they didn't exist there, too. Didn't see to many of the LeBaron (mid-size Aspen/Volare platform family) cars as the full wire wheel cover option was more popular at the time.

The Rally wheels on the '75-'76 Charger SE were a5x6.5 wheels. Looked like the popular 14" wheels, but were 15s in stead.

There was a 15x8 steel wheel that went on the Ramcharger vehicles, too. A friend put some of the back of his '69 Super Bee, painted body color.

Might need to check the Data Books at www.hamtramck-historical.com for verification, but that's how I remember things back then, from my research. BTAIM

When we were an AMC/Jeep/Renault dealer for about 6 months, circa 1982, I went through their parts microfiche to see what was in there, in the performance realm of things. Found some Magnum500 wheels, painted rather than chromed. The Chrysler W23-style wheels were in there, too, but painted rather than with the chrome around the slotted area. And, of course, different center caps. Found lots of other factory hot rod parts in there, too, like 2x4bbl intakes and such.

The problem with the 7" road wheels is you will never be able to find a trim ring that looks correct for it.

What about the Magnum GT 15x7 trim rings? They go all the way in.

They are way too curved at the outside to look even close to original even though they do go very close to the wheel on the inside. I have some 7" road wheels and haven't been able to find a suitable trim ring. I gave up on them a long time ago for that reason.

Wheel code RY8 first appeared in sales literature in 1976,

through 1979

I sold a set to @david hill that I got out of a later 70's TrailDuster

Thanks for that posting! I'd forgotten about the availability on pickup trucks. Interesting that they were not used with 6-ply rated tires.

Hmmm, those trim rings look maybe acceptable. I don't think I have ever seen a set of those rings available before......................
Ask David about them, he bought them specifically for the rings. He could also tell you if they are 6" or 7" rims, I don't remember if I even checked the width.

This is exactly right. My dad had a 78 Crestwood wagon with the aluminum fascia wheels. It had 7" black road wheels under the aluminum basket. Sharp wheels but the basket would come loose from the rim and squeak like crazy.
