I cant wait...ordered my paint a bit early (stimulus)...still have to do my trunk pan but that will be in the coming weeks, after that I can start the rest of the body work to prep it for paint... I know it will piss off some of you, but its what I like....house of Kolor Purple Kandy over jet black...this is the inner fender I did when i did the engine bay....the roof will still be black with the blue lace top..

Nice colour! It’s going to look great. Always remember do it for yourself because your the one who is going to look at it everyday and drive it. Don’t worry about pleasing everyone else as it will never happen.

Cool color. HOK candies look great but have very aggressive solvents in them so make sure your prep work is good. Finish sanding with finer sandpaper and make sure you use a sealer to eliminate sand scratch swelling. Can't wait to see the finished pictures.

I for one am really curious to see the combination of that color with the existing roof.

Still cannot figure out how you got that lace to come out so well.

Will there be any other details on the body?

it was a pain in the ***....but worth it. In retrospect I think I dont think I would use the blue marble in the lace...I think a deep blue candy over silver flake would be better, but its on...and staying..I havent decided yet on any other aspects with the body. There are alot of body lines I could use for accents above or below the kandy...but its soo damn big I havent been able to think it through yet. I just know the purple is going on. If there are other accents I think it might be in black or silver pinstripe accents...but there is already enough chrome on the car anyway...these were before wetsanding and polishing..

Wow Jason that roof looks great. It does not piss me off at all, if anything it reminds me of what the hotrodders did back in the 50's. That's pretty cool and I like it. I honestly tend to lean towards being a purist and loving things stock and as they came from the factory, but I like custom too as long as it is done right. Yours looks like it is done right, great work. The purple should look awesome too by the picture, and I cannot wait to see it. There again I like purple too, I wonder why.......

I love pure restorations...and if this car was in better shape when I got it...maybe I would have gone that route...but it was in sad shape with alot of rust and almost a bad motor, bad interior, mostly just a running parts car. Since I did not have a car to strip this one for as parts...I am building it my way and will enjoy it. Later, the 62 imperial will be done as close to factory as i can....unless I find another cool paint for that too...lol.

I'm also a stock purist, but it isn't as though you're sanding/stripping off a pristine, original finish or something. I think on a fastop the kandi-purple will be WAY cool...…

For a good number of years, a popular (around Houston, TX anyway) "art car" was a '67 Imp that became the "yarn car" with a yarn "finish." What made it a "tasteful custom" (to me, anyway) was that the car itself was left alone/kept intact, it was just given a different look.

Looking forward to how the purple turns out, especially with that black/lace top!
