Welcome Dodge to FCBO!

Welcome Aboard,
Great site with a lot of great people... You see already with these opening comments that you are are now part of a friendly and caring family.....

Yes I do! I am so thankful to be apart of FCBO.

I just don't know where to find the fiberglass body panel additions. Do you know if someone out there makes them?

Sadly I do not. Those are rare and hard to find pieces as well though with very little cars made, and that they could break easy. I do not know how many parts he has or know if he even wants to sell them, but I would possibly check with @Fury Pursuit as he has a Hurst 300 including the famous 1 of 1 convertible. A 2nd option I would say would possibly be @Trace 300 Hurst.

Thank you again very much!
By the way, I've gotta get my brother on here. Yall would probably hit it off great. He's a big Sport Fury guy. He has an awesome 68 Sport Fury factory 383/4speed fast top. He also has two other project cars he want to do, a 69 Sport Fury in really good shape and a 67 sport fury. All 2 door matching numbers cars.

Stunning car! I think the grey suits it perfectly, and looks great! It looks like it may even be the factory shade GA8 slate metallic. One of the lesser seen and more desirable colours. Welcome!

since the car was originally gold, and it already has the 440, may I suggest painting it back to that color gold and making a Hurst 300 clone?

Shouldn't he paint it EW1 Spinnaker White first, and THEN add the gold and pinstripes? Like this:

I can only tell you that a vendor at Carlisle had a decklid with most of the center span of the wing broken off. I've never seen a hood for sale.

Having said all that, I'm not a big fan of Hurst clones. Of course. For instance, I'll never quite figure out what was going on here. That poor, rare hood...the horror!

I'm with you on the clone car concept, as I said I've thought about it but in the end it would not be real. Most people out there are perfectly ok with having a look-a-like and telling people it's the real thing. Me though, I couldn't do that. I would know it's not real and would not be ok inside about it. For example, the guy I bought it from had the TNT duel snorkel air cleaner and TNT pie tin laying on the back seat ready to put on top the carburetor. First question people are going to ask is, is that a real TNT. Now, at this point you would have to either lie, or tell the truth and have people scratch their head at why you would make it look like a TNT if it wasn't. And if they knew to look at the VIN they would know for sure seeing the engine code "T" as opposed to "U". Don't get me wrong, I love the double snorkel and will be putting it on the engine, however, I will just get me a simple 440 pie tin or decal to go on it.

I am in no way trying to criticize anyone who has a clone, I just am saying every time I think about doing it, I also think of how it's just not for me. Regarding the picture with the Hurst hood, I'm sure that guy probably just likes the look. It does make it look more sporty. If they made aftermarket Hurst hoods, I'd probably get one. I just think they look bad to the bone. That being said, the older I get, the more I appreciate going for the factory look.

TNT, yeah baby!

As you "work-in-progress" your way thru your giant grey whale (how about the license plate GRY WHL?) I'm sure all of us here will be happy to provide advice and info, should you need to know about some nerdy detail.

Oh, I had a clone car once. My first car was a 62 Valiant when I was 16, and in a Western Auto store I saw a pair of crappy, chrome stick-on 426 Hemi stickers. I didn't really know what a hemi was, but you can bet I paid my three bucks and stuck them on the forward end of the front fenders. Everyone was quite impressed, I'm sure. Too bad they're not in this pic so all of you could be equally impressed with my Hemi Valiant. :D

Thanks Trace 300 Hurst. That is one awesome looking TNT! Hey that plate name is a great idea. Interestingly my dad worked at a Western Auto store for 30 years. I practically grew up in that store. Many good memories running around as a boy.

I do have a question though if I may, what type of heater control valve did you use for your TNT? My car's bakelite HCV is bad (cracks/leaks) and was wondering if there is a better option out there other than NOS or remakes, unless those work good. Thank you much again.

So.....do you have any cheesy, chrome Hemi stickers from your dad's Western Auto you wanna sell? :D

I spent the past two years studying the underhood of every C-Bod (and B, E and A cars for reference) that I could find at shows, auctions and web pics in hopes of correctness from the mess of incorrectitude it was when I acquired the car. I'm pretty happy with it now. In fact, it's totally done.

The NOS Bakelite valve is available out there for big money from the typical Mopar NOS vendors around the country. NOS New Heater Valve, Mopar 2936490 1969 1970 1971 Chrysler, B-Body w/ A/C | eBay

In my case, there was no valve at all--nor the damn bracket, and that was a long search for the right one, as that item has no PN to chase after. I bought the aftermarket replacement valve by Everco (for $80 for something that was $12.99 in 1975!) that ended up under so many hoods because of the crap design of the Bakelite unit. I replaced many HCVs when I was a lad working in a Plymouth dealership and in my parent's various Furys with the inexpensive and reliable Everco.

I would be sorely tempted to take your Bakelite valve apart and see if the crack can be fixed with JB Weld and maybe the orings replaced, or whatever. What ya got to lose? Anyone out there done this? Dave Lux? David Hill?

Here's the Everco info. Remember that there's a cable version, the two-vacuum port ATC version, and this one for regular AC cars.
