dead horse im sure...

after tons and tons of videos I think Im down to the 87016cb cherrybomb.... almost a direct bolt in for what I have right now and has the sound I love...dont know how it will be in this car, but im willing to try it.

So you are leaning toward the more aggressive side. Did you look at spin tech?

hadnt heard of them...sorry...I like aggressivish....I dont care for the 10 series flowtechs or the similar cherry bomb 10....I dont need really loud...but i love the sound of straight exhaust...just quieter...I did order the 87016cb...if it doesnt work out then I will keep looking, but it doesnt require cutting to make it fit...just a short adapter.

I ‘m not sure about that. There are no cheapskate seams in them they are fully tig welded stainless inside and out. Beware of the Walker “stainless” mufflers. The guts are mild steel.

The cheap one's? Both sets I went through were galvanized with crimped construction, no welds anywhere. The new one's were 35-40$ CAD about five years ago

No sir, I was talking about stainless works mufflers when I said they are the last ones you’ll ever buy.

Walker sound fx muffler, has a nice rumble and quiet in the cabin

Cheap way out is the old faithful thrush turbo muffler. I use Stainless Works in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. I can spec out any size or inlet outlet size and position that I want and they can quiet them down or set them on kill if you want. And it is last muffler you’ll ever buy:
And you get a free sticker!!!!

Go for the best of both worlds! My '57 Chevy build I upgraded to duals and put dual-valve electric cutouts with Flowmasters on the fork side and 12" CherryBombs on the straight. It's the bomb!! The mufflers sound great and don't drone, but at car shows when you want to sound good, you have the cherry bombs. Hey - with the original 283, I had to do something to make it SOUND powerful... lol.

Also, if you do drone, pull the carpet and soundproof the floor.

dont even have carpet yet, lol...i installed the cherry bomb the other day...its not bad...not quite what I want, but closer than what i had. I think the cam might be part of it too...just means i need more power, lol.

Funny...having pretty much the exact same conversation right now.

Car is in the shop (68 Newport, 383, Holley Street Avenger 570, stock motor, Pro Form distributor & electronic ignition, auto) getting the new carb, distributor & electronic ignition installed.

Now that the car is running properly it is WAY TOO QUIET so I am looking for the same thing: Not ready to go true duals, don't want to hack the exhaust to pieces, just want a replacement muffler with a good, beep burble at idle, louder at acceleration, but no DRONE.

TOO MANY FREAKIN' CHOICES!!! I am likely going to get the Dynomax Super Turbo as well as the Cherry Bomb Turbo or Extreme, maybe one other cheap muffler and try them all out at some point...if I ever get the car back. :-(
