Could someone please tell me why this air cleaner is so hard to find. Is it that rare? Oil breather line connects to driver side of breather lid (not snorkel C.A.P. for California). Wing nut indent on top of lid is larger so as to accept pie tin appropriate for engine. Long flat indent between snorkels is to allow clearance for hard AC line coming off compressor but lid is also correct for non AC cars? as I have seen in many original 69 C-body engine bay pictures with this air cleaner. This is for a 4 barrel carb 5 1/8" base plate. Just need that lid, but will buy whole assembly if needed. Will try to upload a pic of what I want.

Got ripped on ebay at the last seconds on this breather I was so pissed.

These are a fairly rare item that is in high demand still. They are not easy to find anymore after more than 50 years of collectors scooping them up. But they are still out there. Be patient, and they will show up from time to time or someone here with an extra one might offer you one based on your post.

I would recommend continuing checking ebay once and awhile, as they do show up. While this one is the California version you do not want, it is an example of one currently for sale:

1967 - 1969 Charger Dual Snorkel Air Cleaner 383 440 Original Mopar Big Block | eBay

That is nice, very good looking finish on it. I'm checking ebay almost every day.

I kind of suspect that there might still be some unmolested/not crushed-out salvage yards out in the boondocks, off the beaten path, that might have some unwanted Chrysler product with that air cleaner on it. Might even need refinishing? Probably laying in the trunk after the engine was pulled and the engine's purchaser was going to use a chrome open-element air cleaner on it.

ONLY way to find these places is to physically search for them. Nobody cares about an old air cleaner in these places, typically. Only engines and body parts. One person's junk is another person's treasure.

Just know what vehicles they came on and don't mention anything about "factory hot rod" in your conversation! Unless you have a pocket fully of paper money.

Enjoy!

You can check with WildCat Auto Wreckers in Oregon . All Mopar Yard.
I have had good luck buying from them.
I have one but it is not for sale at this time. I have been saving it for one last project car.
