Good Bones For A Swap?

While I am a huge fan of overdrive transmissions in older cars. I would never put one of those in anything.
How 'bout I keep the original 318 and 904 tranny, then add a Gearvendors OD unit with the correct gear ratio in the rear end.:poke:

Gear vendors OD is great. They make a Torque flight really long. I wish in the evolution of the 500/518 transmissions they would have used the OD gearset to split the 3 forward originals (like you can do with a gear vendors) or like a 13 or 18 spd in a big truck.
I know the argument that you will never get you $ back from OD on gas mileage (especially with the price of gas right now). The reduced drone from a 2600-3200 depending on tire dia. and rear gear down to 2200 at 75-80 mph is worth the effort IMO. My days of right lane 60 mph 3500 are in my past, along with getting passed by $169/mo. KIA.

To each his own, but a stock car isn't very interesting to me, says the guy with efi, turbos, and overdrive.

These cars suck with a 318, 2.73's, and stock suspension and tires.

That said I would never bother with a 5.2/46rh
