I once thought I had a bad one, and spent a few hours installing it, only to find it was the ballast resistor. Changed it in ten seconds and was on my way. Felt stupid that day. So did you check it?
Since you are searching, I think I have a complete harness for your car but it came from a 73 Newport. (Non-Tilt)
Do some numbers cross referencing and see if it will work.
The other caveat to this is it's packed away on its' way to Nova Scotia... It will be a while before I can dig it out.
I still have a work in progress... I was almost certain my problem was a bad ignition switch, but today I found some loose wiring which I didn't detect before.
It was not a ballast resistor...
I¨m still in a middle of that thing, but thank you for the ideas!
Today, I found a yellow wire loose in the connection it certainly shoudn't be loose.
It´s the one going to the starter.
Could this one wire be responsible of all the things not working in the interior+
PW,PS, Heater, Wipers, etc...
I would hope not, Have you a copy of the electrical wiring diagram? that will help a lot.
It is probably very closeI have a copy of the 1970 Chrysler wiring diagram. I hope it's still the same in 1971.
Have a part number? Have a few not sure what they fit.
Well, I made a quick fix to connect yellow wires back together, just to test what happens...
I turned the key and the car tried to start immediately! Also wipers, turn signals etc begun to work!
I need to connect these wires properly, but it sure looks like I don't need a new ignition switch after all.
