Ok, '57-'66 Imperial convertible owners, got a quick question for ya...The plastic back window. When you lower the top, do you unzip the back window, or do you leave it zipped??? I unzip mine on the '66 before lowereing the top. But, it is such a pain to zip it back up.

What say you?

On any vert, you are less like to damage the window if it is unzipped. If the top is weathered and the window is brittle, it is probably toast either way.

I do not unzip the back window, the top was replaced in the early 1990's. Window wrinkles disappear after top is raised.

What does the glove box manual say Patrick? I’ll have to check mine.

I have the FSM, guess I'll look there. It might say. The top and window were new in 2007
From a ‘66 glove box manual.

Cool, thanks. At least it's not a requirement to unzip the window. That was my big concern. Gotta say that zipping that wndow back into place is a bear. I've lubed the zipper with bar soap, which makes it easier. Having the top up, but not secured, while zipping or unzipping is helpful....

Thanks for the owner's manual pic!

I don’t unzip mine. What I do to prevent any kinks is before the top gets fully retracted I run my hand along it and make sure it is folding in evenly. Then I fully retract. If you don’t you will get kinks and creases. On pliable newer windows it will go away but older windows won’t. Also I don’t leave my top down and always put it up for the night.
