Same thing that eats steel, oxidation.

That damn vinyl roof, if it caused that funky corrosion on the sill plate, I would hate to see what the roof looks like under that vinyl and under the carpet too. That being said very fair price for a great looking Imperial

Maybe that is just the ragged edge of the carpet that is supposed to be tucked under the sill plate ?

I’m sorry to have to disagree but the aluminum sill plate is being eaten by oxidation. I have a few examples on hand including the drivers side of the Director shown here. Well on its way to being as bad as the one above.

Yeah, but the way the pic looked at a quick glance it looked like a giant chunk was eaten away.

It is. I’ve had some that were that bad and I tossed them.
Road salt does that. You drag it in with your feet, maybe even knocking the snow off as you get in.
I've seen a lot of cars with that damage. Very typical for cars around here.

Great.Nobody wanted them when they were new,now everybody wants them when their old.Heh.I,m just jealous.I,m always late for the party.But the wrong rust can be fatal unless you have a bank account to fix it.It was a great color to.Congrats who ever got it, i hope.Oxidation anybody?B.B
