while the price is ambitious...for me makes me question when is the last time I seen a Newport St Regis Coupe???

@Pclancy sold his superb (I've seen it, it was amazing), original '77 Newport for $5k last year. I think this burgundy St Regis is slightly overpriced

A New Yorker Brougham or a Town & Country could only dream of that price. He's insane.

But it has manual A/C...

Seriously tho you couldn't duplicate it for less. Not insane I don't think. Optimistic maybe but not insane. This all assumes it stands up to detailed scrutiny. Jay Leno's favorite category of collector car, original and unrestored.

This car is beautiful, love that tartan plaid interior, it reminds me of a '48 Chrysler T&C convertible interior, one of my dream cars. I would think a St Regis Newport is pretty rare, maybe the original buyer really wanted the body style of a '75 New Yorker, didn't pull the trigger and that was as close as he could get in '76.

The price is definitely over ambitious. With that being said, it is one beautiful ride. At first look one would think New Yorker. I had never heard of, let alone seen, a Newport Custom St. Regis. That was back when you could take a base model, and with the right option choices and a salesman willing to work with you, put together something like this. The color, wheels, skirts, and even the Tartan interior make it more than the average Newport. The standard A/C system and not ATC-II is a bonus. It is sad that these models, especially in this condition, do not get the love (outside of our group) or dollar value they deserve.

Like these better as a four door...never wild about that particular top treatment...but that plaid! Reminds me a little of the plaid they had in some Porsche 911SCs. Hope it’s as nice as it looks.

In the summer of 1974 a dealer from the Redford area in Detroit ran ads from June 17 through September 5 for a Newport with what looks to be the St. Regis appearance package:

"The Chrysler Newport-by Redford
Customized elegance is yours in this LIMITED EDITION Chrysler Newport by Redford. Be one of only a handful of discriminating buyers to own one of these exceptionally fine motor cars.
Nobody else has them! Standard equipment includes: Air conditioning, custom interior, digital clock, remote control mirror, tinted glass, radio, light package and steel belted radial whitewall tires.
REDFORD adds the look of intimate luxury with a custom padded vinyl roof and classic opera window. Like no other Chrysler Newport you can buy.
Priced at just $5,350-available ONLY at
REDFORD SALES AND SERVICE, INC.
22326 Grand River, Detroit, Michigan 48219

He was sitting close to the source; that surely helped!
