Was that a badge created by a dealer or by the factory or is it aftermarket?
How was that obtained ? Could you order it as a gift or was it kind of a reward
for loyal customers ?

Interesting, reminds me of the Studebaker Avanti's. Definitely not a factory item. The gold Pentastar is centered, as is the name, "made especially for" is in different script, and looks like it could have been added? A fancy name tag for a Chrysler employee which was repurposed?

That repurposed name tag sounds like a good deduction since the original thread mentioned that Mr. Bean owned the Chrysler dealership.

Name tag is very plausible.
Back in the day any trophy shop that did engraving can do anything you want.
Also of you owned the dealership...you can do anything you want...LOL!!

If you google Carroll Ned Beam you find many pages telling us that he died in 2019 in North Carolina where also
that car is located. Might be a coincidence but I don´t think so. However that guy worked in the bank business, not
a Chrysler dealer.

which thread do you mean ?

never mind found the thread in the for sale section

I had a boss who used to be a salesman at a Chev/Cadillac/Olds dealer back in the mid 70s.

When someone wanted to buy a caddy, he used to get dash plaques made up by a trophy shop, he would get something like "Innagural Limited Edition" or their name with special edition made up, he said people ate it up and he sold a ton of cars because of it..

Nick

i bought a 1968 imperial with the same thing the owners name in the car so i contacted the dealership where it was bought in 68 and the guy i talked to told me he sold the car this guy and the tag was put there by Chrysler because the owner special ordered the car and before they sent the car to the dealership they had the owner that ordered it to come out to the factory and make sure that was what he ordered and if it was ok then the factory put the owners name on a plate . mine was on the ashtray door . the funny thing was the owners name was francs s crown i wish i took a picture of it but thats the story i got on the plate .

here is the car i bought in 1999 wish i still had it . it only had 9,000 miles on it the owner was a teacher so he drive it to school and church. and the school was only two miles from his house . and the church was in walking distance when i bought the car the neighbors told me that every year the dealership came to his house and inspected the car and put a sticker on it but he did not drive it in pass 10 years those years .

I've seen a lot of them. Usually at indoor car shows or something like that. Pick one out and they engrave it on the spot.

Car dealers did nice little things like that then...….those are the kind of things that inspire loyalty, VERY hard to come by these days, though...…..

Back in the day most shopping mall's had a vendor somewhere that offered all types of things like that. On the spot engraving.

Murray Park has a 1966 Monaco 500 440 4-speed car that was special ordered and has a plaque like that on the dash that the selling dealer installed for the original owner.

I have seen the Nameplates on mid 1960's Imperials. They had an Eagle instead of the pentastar.

I remember seeing a few of these especially on Caddy's & Lincolns.

As Nick states here, I'm sure this had people loving the added personal touch sold cars.

68-69 AMX’ has the serial number on the dash. I don’t know if the 70’s had them.
