Who remembers Chrysler for 1983?

Back in the later '80s, there was a white Dodge 600 convertible that looked stock. Except for the wider rear tires that they never had. "Rear" on a fwd car? Then I walked around it and saw a 440 under the hood. I looked farther! A fabricated frame (i.e., drag car) with rear wheel tubs (for the wider rear tires). Talk about a SLEEPER! Imagine the Mustang 5.0L drivers' jaws hitting the ground when that little Dodge just smoked them! With the rear tires leaving "tracks", no less.

The car sat level and looked "right" . . . until you noticed the wider rear tires or raised the hood or deck lid, OR heard it run. hehe

Enjoy!

When looking back, almost 40 years, it amazes me the amount of new product Chrysler was producing after emerging from such terrible economic hardship. The sad part for me in watching this video is to see the large amount of different models still being produced by Chrysler at that time compared to today.

My dad worked for Chrysler and we had the option to lease cars. My favorite time of the year next to Christmas was car ordering time. I would pour over the order books, so I am very familiar with these cars. It was a killer to be 17 yrs old growing up with the cars from the mid-60's to the 70's only to have K-cars. Nothing to brag about to my Ford or GM buddies.

My other 83 Mopar was this awesome 2wd Ramcharger. Another fun vehicle I sold to finance the paint job on the BoaB..

Ooh Baby, Kelly Harmon!
In 83 I purchased a Blue/Silver Shelby Charger which was probably the fastest mopar available.
I better shift linkage would have made the thing much more fun to drive.
Dad’s company cars were a Nightwatch Blue Fifth Avenue and a Bright Red Omni 4dr.
And we built the house I’m still in today.
