The hood on my 72 has been tough to close,
Let’s just say there’s a special process to close it like walking to the back corners &
Pushing down on each side so the fenders don’t get guillotined when you give it the
4 inch shove down to click in the front.
Now there is a new twist. The drivers
Side doesn’t want to come along for
The ride like the other side. Is this something that a reputable body shop can adjust or should I start looking for hinges?

Ive had an issue with it lifting up in the back
When dropping the hood but yesterday while changing the oil & new tranny pan with drain
Plug, one side doesn’t want to go up until you head over there & push the back of the hood down. I’ll take a pic when I get back out there.

All hood hinges on B/E/C bodies of the 70's all did that eventually.
Just poor design,IMHO.
After closing,I always have to push down the back corners of my wagon's hood.

I wonder if they do an exchange like chrome bumpers sometimes. If the price & turnaround is reasonable it’s definitely worth it for me to look into. I can be in Derry in just under an hour!

They do exchanges as long as they have them in stock. Not sure about C body's but I've used them for B & E body hood and door hinges.

I’m just a bit intimidated by the George Forman weight of the hood. As far as getting those hinges off. I know some career body
Guys. I will definitely need some extra hands.

Definitely a 3 man job. One on each side and one in the front. Long arms and some muscle will be a plus.

Thanks for all the great info from all as always. I will lube them up real good for now till I get on the horn with that resto company

Mark aruond the hinges against the hood so the hood will be aligned to the body when you put it back on.
