Hi, I just got an ACDelco 36G0055 new remanufactured part installed. That part fits perfect, but has more play than the original part. Wonder if all ACDelco stearing boxes are this bad, or if there are other companies who can do better. Does anyone has a good part for sale ? Need to ship in to germany. It is a 1967 Plymouth Fury III convertible with a 318 Small Block

I have one from a 68. Should be the same. It has a seal leak. I can ship it directly to you or to Lars to be rebuilt. It interested PM me please.

Have you tried adjusting it? Look in the FSM for a procedure.

Are you sure it's the box? Other things can cause play such as worn idler/ pitman arms and tie rods. Also the steering coupler if improperly assembled, I see from the red gasket that yours has been played with.

I replaced complete stearing lekage, coupler, idler, pitmen, ball joints....

Since you mentioned it was a NEW re-manufactured unit, I'm guessing it is fine. I suspect you have the coupler put together wrong since it appears you would have taken it apart. That is probably where all your extra play is coming from.

This may help. Note the checks prior to adjusting the steering box.

I whish it was , but I replaced the coupler and a new coupler Kit. It fits perfect and has no play at all...
Since then I read in another forum about the same Problem with ACDelco Stearing Gear Box. Now I will try one from BBB Industries, hoping this will do better.

The Video is extreme cool. Love to see it serveral times. But I still guess, that there is a Problem with the ACDelco Part. I m gonna order a new one from BBB Industries to find out. Maybe the expensivest way to find ot, but me, I dont want to adjust a stearing box myself... It runs straight and it is dry, only the play is not good. If the new one will have the same (equal) problem, then I start overthinking my latest job an the car, or keep driving it like that. Thank You so much for Your help.

Thank You to everybody. I just ordered a new Gear box, hoping it will do better. I will come back with results....
