Started an off frame, full restoration of my 65 Sport Fury. Body is solid so we are off to a good start! Given the limited production of 65 convertibles, 6,272, hope any necessary parts aren't to difficult to find! I am assuming for every $2 spent I should get $1 back which is as I tell people who think I am nuts, how is that golf game coming! Pictures are as it was before and how we are progressing. Sure hope we don't end up with more nuts and bolts than we started with!

You have solid floors, that is always nice to find. If you get some gallon freezer bags and label where the parts came from, that makes figuring out what goes where a lot easier.

Not my job man! I just have to write the checks. First restoration I did 30 years ago and this time I am leaving it to someone else. Really easy job - I just watch! Thanks, already being done and parts stored in containers!

I wish someone would pay me to restore a c body....its so much more fun when there is money for parts...
It's costing a lot of "C" notes to restore this C Body but by the way the government is giving away money, they won't be worth anything anyway - I should contact Nancy and am I sure she could "slip" that into the fine print too!

Off you go! Take pictures as you disassemble too. I wish I'd done it more on mine, particularly to document things like the routing of heater cables, vac lines and wiring.

Is it a pace car?
Never traced it. Bought it in Grand Junction Colorado in 1989, as had a dent and screw hole where the plaque would have been but I never traced it. Aside from that, it had all the right combination of colors. I suppose I could claim it is because you only have to know more than the person your talking to; sometimes!

What are your plans. All original or other.
All original except I have located a dash that has A/C along with the pump and duct work in tact. Problem is that it is to far to drive to inspect so has to be done by pictures and phone. Be nice if I could find somebody to contract to go look at it.

Do a Zoom video meeting with the owner to interactively go through the components that you are interested in.

CENTERVILLE, SOUTH DAKOTA!!!!!! Do they have electricity and running water in South Dakota yet????? Sorry, I am originally from North Dakota and couldn't control myself. I will be in your neck of the woods in about 3 weeks.

I received pictures and spoke several times on the phone and everything appears in very good shape. Purchased the entire dash including all gauges and controls as well as all the a/c components under the hood for what I believe was a very reasonable cost. To the extent I want to change out the pump, etc. it will still be at a very reasonable cost. It was an opportunity I couldn't pass up.

Thanks for your suggestion.

As of today, this is how "Big Iron" looks!

PM me.
Everything is working here and growing! Lots of corn up and some beans.

Is the firewall the same on an AC car as a non AC?

They are different on an Ebody. You need to change the firewall to retrofit factory air into a non air Ebody.

If they are different, VintageAir is probably a better option.

I can relate to this. I grew up in Montana telling North Dakota jokes. My punishment is living in ND for 31 years. I actually don’t mind it, but the sheep jokes get old.

I did a retrofit of factory air into my 65 Polara so it can be done - and his is in a much better state for that event than mine was when I did it. Of course it helped that I had two operable cars side by side, took the non a/c setup out of mine and swapped for his a/c setup. Started Friday afternoon in the apartment parking lot and had both cars operable on Monday, and was real happy when he told me I didn't have to clean up his dash to cover all the leftover holes...... Back in my younger days..... :realcrazy:
