1970 Chrysler Newport Convertible – 3-speed manual column shift – Unique

VIN – CE27L0C219440
Current Virginia registration
Color code: X93W
383 cubic inch w/2bl
This fuselage-bodied Chrysler convertible was special ordered at Fairfax Chrysler/Plymouth, Fairfax, Virginia in March of 1970 by the original owner. It is uniquely configured and fully documented. The original owner told me that it was important that he have a car that was both easy to service and versatile. This 1970 383 big block convertible is not for everyone. It requires a strong but sensitive hand to drive well. It’s heavy in confined environments. It was purchased for a rural environment where it runs well on open highways. The congestion of San Francisco makes it a chore to drive. Significant repairs will be needed in the future. The odometer shows 34K miles which represents either 134K or 234K miles. In either case although many repairs have been made, more will be needed. For example, there is significant rust in the rear quarter panels and trunk floor. All said this vehicle is a rush due to its engaged driving style, amazing color scheme and set of options.

1970 Chrysler Newport $8,500

Definitely a 1 of 1 car. I'd love to have this to go along side are restored 70' Newport Convertible :love7:

Definitely an odd ball because of the options, but I do love it.

$4576 was the original selling price...I find it interesting that my 70 Polara convertible cost a couple hundred more new and it has a lot less options.

LOOK, he traded in a 61 Chrysler convertible, the original owner knew what he wanted...which is why this is ordered the way it is I guess. I love it.

It needs to be restored

That is a neat old car. The seller was amazingly honest.

Do you suppose the chucks and pants come with the car? :icon_lol:

Thank you, @ayilar, for posting those photos. This car deserves to be shown. It is such a rare beast, and a testament to the special order procedure, which lamentably exists no more.

Here are is a pic that the second owner shared with me, showing the white top. The car was sold to Pennsylvania in 2011.

Manual steering with a rimblow wheel, you wont be sneaking up on anybody. I miss the days when you could custom order your car.
